Thinking about modifying my first TD

Postby Aaron Coffee » Sun Jun 01, 2014 9:42 pm

Hi, it's been awhile since I've been on here. For the last couple years, I have been helping my nephew with his soap box derby car. I have been thinking about an enclosed trailer of some sort to haul the car in, it just fits in the box of my 98 Dodge Dakota club cab, and then if the race is out of town we have to haul the cooler, our clothes and anything else in the back seat of the pickup. Today I realized that I already have an enclosed trailer, my first teardrop I built in 2000, it needs a little work, one door is kind of rotten along the bottom and I would need to remove the lower cabinets and drawers in the galley and the lower galley wall, and add tie downs inside, but it would also provide someplace for my niece and nephew to relax in and watch TV between races. It's the TD in my avatar.

When we bought our '46 Modernistic teardrop, which needed total restoration, it had 4 brackets on the roof and two tie down loops on each side. We later learned that a previous owner had hauled a soap box derby car on top of it. No idea how long ago that was.
