Duct tape is Great for short term jobs, but the longer you leave it on , the more it decomposes leaving the adhesive and little else ... Probably do more damage (chemically) removing it than just leaving it and using it as part of the build (allow for it) ... cover over it , forget it ... done deal ...

Acetone or denatured alcohol are my to-to cleaners.....

I was just wondering how the canvas would stick and if it would end up leaving air pockets where the duct tape was and the canvas isn't stuck down if the tape loosens up. It came of the first door pretty well a month ago

I'd just leave the tape, to be honest. a recent little test here showed that TBII sticks just fine to the Aluminum duct tape and to a piece of wayward painters tape.. and a small section of silver duct tape.. ( dont ask.. it was a hodgepodge on a scrape piece) The tape will just make it stronger as it will stop degrading once out of the sun, and its waterproof

I feel the duct tape deteriorates far to fast. I would not want it between anything that is suppose to be permanent.

OK started recovering a couple door, first 2 doors developed bubbles and the third door I did the next day did not, Any thoughts on why 2 did and then 1 didn't

A little test for a future project
A 1'x2' sandwich 1/4" bottom 1/8" top will support my weight when supported on the outer edge, this will be for a future 2'x6' bed frame on the truck bed camper

go to good will and get a used iron, Don't use mama's. now slowly using the edge of the hot iron, pull it over the canvas. I just had some bubbles on a shelf I was making. For some reason I had bubbles on one side but not the other. Hope this might help,

found out the hard way I shouldn't use the wifes luckily she doesn't iron much. It didn't seem to take the bubbles out though I'm fearin I might have to strip it and try again just wish I knew what I did right on the 3rd one.
Also found that a sharp scraper takes the duct tape off the PVC pretty well

Just guessing, did some get placed in the sun and the other left in the shade?

It might be glue thickness, the cotton will stretch if it gets wet, I find I want my glue thin and tacky, to the point it pulls on the roller. Then I stretch the fabric on.
Are you perforating the foam surface? I work all my foam glue surfaces over with a warner 250, otherwise the glue or paint peels easily. This might help the glue stick to the tape.

Are you looking for consistent shrinking or at a lack of adhesion.

I had trouble using an iron in one place. It was too hot and melted
foam there...

On mine using paint: I painted the canvas first then rolled it on the
foam. The canvas soaked through from the paint and seemed to
consistently dry taut. The sun helps if you can do one side at a time.
