TC Teardrops

I have seen posts about TC Teardrops from a while ago, but does anybody have any recent experience with them? There facebook page is pretty active and those trailers are looking pretty nice.

If one were to go with them which add ons are a must have?

We love ours. As for add ons I guess it depends on what you are into. The sealed tool chest on the front and our Foxwing are our favorites. The TC is nice because you can customize and add on your own.

Fair enough, does it get hit without the rooftop fan or do the side fans work well?

I use a small 12v box fan in the door window that works great.

Ok, it seems like that would do fine, but the summers down in the south...

How do they retain heat in the winter?

And I like that it leaves some room for tinkering, but I guess what I am really after is what options just need to be added at construction?

Anybody in NC with one? I would like to take a peek in one before I buy...

I think the only thing that really should be done at the time of manufacture is to add the Yakima landing pads on the roof in case you ever want to add a Yakima rack later on. This is more structural - I don't know if they add backing plates or what, but I added the actual racks later on and they feel like you could pick up the whole trailer with them. So I would get the landing pads installed at a minimum. I think the only other item I might consider would be a solar panel - we put ours on the rear hatch with no regrets.

The units hold heat very well. I have camped down to 0 F in the winter with ours. The biggest issue is condensation (as with most teardrops). We overcame this by installing a small 12V computer fan in one of the vents in the top to force a bit more air through the unit.

I would bet Todd and Carol could hook you up with someone in your area to take a look - they are super great to work with!

We have close to 10k miles on ours and couldn't be happier with it!

We absolutely love ours! Fits our needs and hauls straight, smooth and easy. We've hauled ours all over Wisconsin, from the Interstates to the roughest dirt roads without any problems. "Solitude" is a 5x9 and basic enough where we felt we could make some changes, rearrange the shelving, etc., and currently have a paint job planned for the galley (I want a more easily wipe able surface in the food prep and storage areas). Have the solar panel on the galley hatch, and a couple of 12 volt receptacles under the inside cabinetry for phone, fan and other devices. Very handy.

Besides the other items RioWilson mentioned, you might want to consider the zippered screen doors for the door openings. Even with the window and bottom door screens open, at times there doesn't seem to be enough air flow (at least for me---Bob doesn't like the sound of the fan so we don't use it much). We did have two side vents installed on each side instead of one. While TCT does make and install the zippered door screens (style and pricing similar to the ones offered by CampInn), I've got the materials and a machine heavy enough to sew up my own, will post a thread on that when I get 'em done.

I own a Camp Inn, have had the opportunity to view 3 TC teardrops, two owned by members of this forum (RioWilson and Backroads). The very first TC teardrop I saw was a give away prize for a fund raiser in Copper Harbor, Michigan.

TC tears appear to be a good basic teardrop. My opinion, the hatch is light, the two side doors provide a lot of sunlight. The non-ventilating side wall vents need to have fans installed as mentioned by RioWilson. I have not compared TC Tears side by side with Little Guy.

The give away prize teardrop showed evidence of many lookers carelessly opening the hatch and side doors, which would require warrenty work before using.
