Noob here in the Rose City

Postby AaronRCTID » Wed Jun 18, 2014 8:18 pm

I'm Aaron, I live in Portland OR. My dad and I are getting pretty pumped talking about doing our first build of a teardrop this summer. We're early in the design and idea process. We're shooting for something more simple than glamorous. But it'll need to be fairly sturdy and rain proof, duh. Anyhow, I'll post this anywhere, but does anyone know of a post they can refer me to that has a basic primer on some of the lingo here. After reading around a bit, there's definitely some insider lingo I'm not familiar with.

Welcome to the forum Aaron.

When I started about 2 year ago I just searched for each term I didn't know and found lots of info on it to further explain. I also looked through the Hall of Fame, and I bought Steve Fredericks builder manual http://www.campingclassics.com/shopman05.html he has lots of great tips, explains a lot of how he does his builds. I spent more than 6 months researching and deciding on what I liked, what I had to have and how to put it together before I started my build. The research and advanced planning paid off as I had very few issues or questions during my build.

Good luck in your design and future build.

Thanks very much for the tips. Looks like lots of great info there. Life delayed plans for a few months, but I'm back at it. Exciting to start my build this spring, cheers!!
