First listing from Western Washington

Postby K7MXE » Thu Jun 19, 2014 6:10 pm

I have been slowly working on this project. Did the normal HF trailer and pitched the axle for Dexter and moved it back.
Now working on the body. I have odd material in that it is very very light and space age. Honey comb fiberglass that came from Boeing surplus in the 70's. Its very hard on tools. My plywood blade lasted seconds.
I was lucky enough to find just enough to do the job. Dont know what I am doing but having fun doing it. Had the doors made over in Boise Idaho but forgot to get windows installed. I will do that later. Thats all I know from Bob Heselberg in Eatonville Wa

The door size is a screw up. It sounded right at the time. Its OK if I want to load something inside from a forklift I don't have to take it off the pallet. I don't think I am the first one making a screw up. Well my first screw up was getting a Harbor Freight trailer as had to change most of it, I should have bought the steel and welded it up but did not want to do the state patrol inspection as that is costly. I am new and learning all the time.

The first hurtle was the trailer hitch. Curt made a factory hitch but would not work with my exhaust system. I did some of the mods and let the hitch shop finish up the last on their hoist. The hitch just fits between the mufflers.
This material is very hard and the Skil saw throws sparks when you cut it. I have a lot of kerf cuts to do on the front . Wood would be so much easier.
I think one trailer is fine for me but have shamed a friend into he doing one he has talked about for some time. He got a hitch ordered for his Subaru. I expect his will be real pretty as he is a wood worker. Bob H
