Personally, I see no problem with putting the toilet in the shower. That's a serious space saving way to go. The more double duty the better.

I struggled with the idea of a shower in my 7*14 for a while. I even bought the shower pan. In the end, I decided to install an outside shower for the rare event I would need to use it. And where I would use it would be very remote and not an issue. I figured why use all that real estate for something that will rarely be needed? They sell great shower tents now or you can just make a small PVC hoop with curtain to put up when needed.

You could put in an outside shower and any place that might be an issue will most likely have facilities.

Here is a shot of mine. All of the plumbing is on the inside of the cabinet where the sink and the remainder of the plumbing is. I have not installed the hot water because I've never needed it. My intention is to get an on-demand propane unit and hang it over the wheel well if I ever get in a routine of going to very remote places. Then I will also have to connect the on demand 12VDC water pump. Right now I use the hand pump by the sink with 5 Gal water tanks I can switch out (only used that once also).

I'd be happy with an outside shower, also the places we go have facilities but my wife demands a shower. I'm screwed. Was down there today installing the A/C and I think I have the shower / RR figured out.

Here are some pics from today.

Just about couldn't bring myself to hack a hole in the roof.... I pulled some of the molding off is why you can see a green wire hanging.

The unit was fully seated in this pic, it is now.

The blue lines represent walls, the line in front of the toilet is where a platform will need to be for the toilet. The blue line under the toilet is the frame of the trailer, the reason for the platform. I have to raise the toilet in order for the sewer line to clear the frame. Think about using a shower pan liner for the "shower pan", I know red neck. And I'm kicking the idea around of using vinyl floor covering to cover the walls of the bathroom. I have seen shower curtain bars that are curved and will keep the toilet area dry since it will be up on a platform. These are just ideas, not sure if I will go this route but I can see it in my mind and I believe it will work.

Why not just use something like the Thetford Curve porta potti in the shower area? That way it is removable when you shower.

That's exactly what I was going to suggest, Cindy. So it's brilliant.

No need to plumb for black water and you get a full size shower stall when you want, and privacy for the biffy when you want.

We are using an older model Thetford 'porta potti', one we have had for years, in the 24 x 32 shower pan.

have you thought about putting the shower and potty in the center with closet and counter on the out side it would give you a deeper area but you don't have to go more then about 30'' wide thats what I was thinking of doing to mine when I get started on it just my 2 cents

Just curious, but do you have to have separate tanks? How about just a black water tank and no gray?

Hmmm. The nice thing about having a gray water tank if you have a black water tank is that first the black is emptied and then the gray. The gray flushes out the hose. Years ago we did have a misadventure and had gray backing up into the shower pan... would hate that to happen if it was just a single black/grey tank.

Just went down and measured and I can get a 14 gal black water tank right under the toilet on the floor hidden in the pedestal. Solves the finagling fittings through the floor to a small tank below.

This leaves me with more room below for a larger gray tank, maybe up to a 24 gal.

That will do for me.

Made a little progress tonight. Framed the bathroom wall and modified a folding door for the bathroom.

Made some more progress today, got most of my electrical work done. Installed the DC lighting, mounted the battery. Located the shower valve and spray head temporally to show my wife how the shower will be laid out. May have to replace the battery though, was planning on using the old battery out of my truck since all I'm really going to run are the LED lights, but tonight after letting the Converter stay on for a few hours I noticed it was rather warm and the battery was bubbling. I'm sure it is just due to the battery being low on charge but to be safe I shut the Converter down, disconnected the battery and threw a charger on the battery. We'll see tomorrow how it does on it.

I like it great job I hope you take a lot of detailed pictures especially how you install the tanks and toilet.
I am guessing your using a shower stall and not building one from scratch?
If I were to do it over again I would do exactly what your doing.
I think the portable toilets are great but dumping it and washing it out gets old fast, I put a drain on mine so I can uncap it from the outside so I don't have to empty it.86341

I reread your post about the vinyl sheets for the walls of the shower and that's what I did ( but I would not do it again)
it really turned out homemade looking I also build the shower pan using tile and it looked great but would not drain and I had to tear it out then I could see how much the water had made it through and was going to rot the flouring.
Lucky for me I made the stall 24x30 the same size as a RV shower pan so it fit without any problems.
The thing I found out now is it's really hard to get the vinyl sheets to glue to the wall and now I can see yellow areas where the glue was used and it's like bubbled where the glue stuck and where there wasn't any glue? I used liquid nails that's what was recommended?
If I were to do it again I would buy a shower stall that has walls, I think home depot has them pretty cheap,I normally shop at lowes because there local.
I am going to take some pictures and do a update on my trailer.

Fresh water tank came in yesterday, 21gal capacity. If anyone needs one the price is very good. I looked all over and finally pulled the trigger on these folks. I don't really plan to use on-board water much but I will have the option now. $53 shipped sounded good to me, tank looks great. http://www.classacustoms.com/21-Gallon-Fresh-Gray-Water-Holding-Tank-FREE-SHIPPING-21TK-FS.htm?categoryId=-1
