Coat Hook Options - Help Me Pick

I bought two different styles of coat hook and I'm having trouble deciding which to use (... which is why I haven't taken them out of the packages yet, had planned to take the unused ones back).

One is a high/low style and the other is side by side. I figure that the high low would be better for layering something like a heavy coat over the top of another smaller item, but the side by side has a lower profile and might not tend to block my cabin dome lights (which are mounted high on either side wall just above where the coat hooks will be).

My final thought was to not decide, have the best of both worlds and just use both by mounting one above the other, sort of like I have mocked up in these pictures. I figure this packs more options and capacity into a smaller space, but might be more than what is needed and could look gaudy (... although I am fine with it and am currently leaning this way).



Mel (atahoekid) has already weighed in on my build thread saying that he prefers not to hang things in layers, so prefers the side by side version.

What do you think and why? How do you use the coat hooks in your camper, have you made any changes, and/or would you do something different?

I've seen a lot of weight on a coat hook... I'd tend to use a single hook
and discourage a lot of weight hanging...

I, too, like the side-by-side version, the one on the bottom in the picture. The side by side takes up less vertical space, allowing your coats and clothes to hang a little higher up so that they drag less on the bed or floor. Also, I think they are a little smaller and more in proportion to the teardrop; therefore, look a tad better.

If you really can't decide, you could get some of those chrome-look Command hooks made for temporary use, and decide later what you want. Sometimes that's better anyway, because you may change your mind later, after you start using your teardrop, and want to move your coat hooks elsewhere. If you've already put in the permanent ones, you're kind of stuck with them.

My thoughts exactly. I am going to put the command hook(s) up and see what I like. May never have to be permanent.

I prefer side-by-side as that way nothing gets hidden and everything gets an equal chance to dry and air.

Thanks for the input, everyone. It looks like the side by side is the hands down winner. I will use that to start, but will mount it low enough on the wall blocking so that if I change my mind I can add the over/under hook above it, or even swap them.
