VINTAGE COUPLER

Postby bohemian » Fri Jun 20, 2014 9:30 pm

I came across a vintage coupler that I know a fews folks are looking for, a bit pricey but if you need one?
I hope the link works.

The opinions in this post are my own. My comments are directed to those that might like an alternative approach to those already espoused. There is the right way,the wrong way,the USMC way, your way, my way, and the highway.

Is cast iron a good choice? Seems there would be more possibility of cracking.

Who knows exactly what it is. Cast steel? A forging?

Years ago my father-n-law gave me an old boat trailer. I build a box on it and years later traded it to my brother as he wanted it. It has one of these couplers on it. My brother is now aware the coupler is worth more than the trailer.

I guess you'd really want to be "original" to pay $300 for one.

Cheers,

Gus

I have one sitting in my shed, a #26. It's cast iron. Didn't know I was sitting on some money!
If it itches. scratch it

I think that coupler is the type that was original on my '46 Bantam trailer. We replaced it years ago for a more modern one. Should have kept the original!!!
