Source for TD windows other than Frank Bear and

Postby AZKayaker » Wed Jun 25, 2014 7:36 pm

Looking for a couple TD windows. Some of the resource links here are outdated. Can anyone recommend a source for windows other than Vintage Technologies (Frank Bear) and Lil' Bear? Nothing wrong with them, just want more choices.

I used Hehr sliding windows with the sliding screens. Love them especially on hot mosquito filled nights.

AZ.

The others have provided a good number of options for you to explore.

Something you might consider regarding the windows you are passing over; modern RV windows tend to be horizontal sliders.
Some awning styles are available, but both almost always lose half of the available area because of the slider portion, and or the fixed sections of the awning style.
In short, the ones most people use, are better ventilation wise because they offer the largest amount of "open" window area, something that is pretty important in a potential oven.
Another pleasant feature of full awning windows is that you still get the full amount of ventilation when it is raining, sliders have to be closed to keep rain out.

I see you live in Arizona - that will help. Go to self-service automobile junkyards and look for pickups with old-school aluminum camper shells. That's where I found this beauty:

Smoked plastic, so it won't ever shatter. Nor will you need to hang airflow-reducing curtains, because no one can see in. The way it opens will allow virtually 100% air flow. Best of all, it was under $30!
