Took the plunge

Ready to get to work. Got a Stealth 7x16 aluminum. Using it for a RZR and to camp.

Added insulation to the walls. Ceiling is next. Need to get windows and then maybe a roof vent. Not sure about that yet, would windows be enough.

For finishing the inside walls, has anyone used like an All in One Varnish and Stain? Looking for a finish that won't show all the scuff marks and would be durable.

The All In One stain/varnishes work fine. Anything polyurethane based is pretty tough. The most durable stuff is made for hardwood floors.

How many windows are you adding? Just thinking you might want to go with a clear poly to keep it a little brighter inside.

I have found it easier to install the windows, roof vents before the insulation and inner walls are installed. Sometimes additional frame work is needed to support the window frame and the wall will have to come back out.

Good Point. I know I want windows, but it may be a little while so I probably jumped the gun on insulation. I going to go with white paint so the inside will be brighter. Floor will be black as I think I'm going to use 3/4 inch Horse Mats like I had in my last trailer I used to haul dirt bikes. Super tough and it does add some insulation value but don't know how much.

I like both windows and a vent. The vent is especially nice because with a Maxx Air cover I can leave it open and never worry about a storm coming up while I am gone. Plus the vent at the top removes the hottest air.

Walls painted and reinstalled. What is a good roof vent? Seems like the prices really vary. Anything special to look for?

IMO, the Fantastic is the only fan worth having. We have had other brands in other RV's. Some make more noise than make air move. I like the model 5000; reversible, three speeds, with adjustable thermostat. Couple it with a vent cover like the Fantastic Ultra Breeze so it can be left open w/o worrying about rain or being torn off in a wind. There is a model with rain sensor and motor drive mechanism but I believe that is too much to go wrong.

Along with a roof vent you need an inlet for the replacement air. A window cracked open will do but I am thinking of adding a vent that can be opened/closed in a lower wall or possibly the floor. Alone, a roof vent does not do much; it needs an air inlet in order to exhaust air through the roof.

I like your idea of a vent versus cracking open a window, which is what I was going to do. The cracking open a window idea pointed me into the direction do an awning window in case of rain. But your floor or side vent is interesting but still gives me concern relating to the dust infiltration paranoia (see my previous post on this topic) I have while riding dusty roads. I will be watching your solution for ideas.

So looking at windows, thinking about getting 3-4 14x21 windows to fit between the wall studs. Also looking at maybe 2 roof vents, one with the fantastic fan like mentioned above, do I need second roof vent or will that suffice? Does this sound like a decent plan or am I missing something?

trailer looks great, good idea on the smaller windows to fit between the studs. I just finished putting a 60"x20" in mine but had to do some welding on the aluminum to stiffen it up before we cut the skin for the final install. Keep up the good work.
