New member on board

Been poking around here and decided to join. Still thinking about which way to go. My wife and I retired 10 years ago, sold everything and bought a 32' Fifth Wheel which we lived in for 6 years. Did a few years traveling the Eastern U.S. before settling down to winters here in Florida and summers in Maine on a friends property. Don't plan on doing too much long distance traveling anymore and we're looking at around $800.00 just in fuel cost one way to Maine this summer. Once we are on the property we don't tend to spend a lot of time in the RV. So why drag this monster all the way? There is a lot of info here to digest before finalizing what we will do, whether to build or refurbish.

Welcome aboard. I have been in the same plcace as you are, and that is what made me decide to get rid of the motorhome and get involved in teardrop trailers. 32 mpg sure is better than 12 mpg that I got with the big rig. We were able to take off at a moments notice, since the tear was always stocked, and ready to go. Seems like we took a couple of days to get the motorhome ready to roll, plus the unloading and cleanup after we returned. Best move we ever made. Good luck on whatever you decide.

Travelerilr, in many ways i envy you. I have just retired and for a month have been cleaning out my retail/manufacturing shop….bigger job than starting a business, by far. I'm looking forward to starting my own teardrop for the times i want to just run off for a day or so and not haul the 19' trailer. :D If i need retirement advice i might ask you, since you look like a pro !
