Hey, slowcowboy. It is do-able with a roof rack for the canoe. You can even put a trolling motor on it if you don't want to wear yourself out paddling.
Happy trails,

I am drawing plans for a trailer-able boat that we can sleep on even if it is on the trailer by tenting the front half of the boat.

My solution is below. Though if you wanted to go big and stop teardropping a boaterhome would be pretty sweet.

The whole idea of building a camper for us is based on biking & boating. We have two kayaks that will travel inside the camper. Mine is a Folbot folding kayak. It's a folding, skin on frame kayak the fits into two easily carried bags. BF has a Point 65n plastic, modular kayak. It comes apart in three pieces. One section slips into another. Thus, we could put 2 kayaks, a 13' & a 12', into a teardrop or TTT. :D

I used my one man pontoon floatation boat with a trolling motor on the back.
It was great and comfortable. I powered the trolling motor with the kind of power pack that you jump cars with. It would put out a wake. I use the past tense because mice got into my garage and ate a hole in the bladder (actually several small holes ) tip.

Well after much searching and asking I have determined my beetle won't safely carry a canoe. No place up front to tie it down, all plastic and the frame is to far back under the car.
I hate to add a roof rack to my teardrop but looks like that is the way I will have to go. After putting more than a few hundred dollars into car and truck repairs this past month that won't be happening anytime soon.

Just a wild ideal  . How about a foam boat mounted on hooks on the side of the tear drop? Easy to take off and put back on. Very light.

I recently decided that I'd postpone my teardropping for a bit and return to the water.

Went up to Ventura Harbor today and put an offer in on this: http://www.yachtworld.com/core/listing/ ... teschmidt&

I have a Little Guy 6' wide sport for sale now if anyone is interested.

121836

Its kinda like a teardrop (rather cozy and self contained) but has a lot more radios, radar, ropes, fiberglass, sails, electronics, anchors, and 6,200 pounds of lead bolted to the bottom to keep it upright.

We see if our offer floats!

Cheers,

Gus

When you open the front lid are there any bolts that you can attach a loop to?
I've seen fabric strap loops used. Concealed inside a hood and flipped out
when needed.

Hmmmm, I will have to look. Hadn't thought to go under the hood. Don't know if I would be comfortable with straps pulling up under the hood but will have to look and see. There is a tow hook on the front bumper but it is off to the side. But using that with under the hoos

In my family we use something called top ties to tie down canoes/kayaks in the front. You can get them for $6.00 and shipping. I have ordered them by mail and they didn't cost very much. You just remove one of the frame bolts under the hood on the side , attach the tie and replace the frame bolt. The strain is not carried by the hood, but the frame. When you use the ties they hang out and when not using them they tuck under the hood. We have used them for years on various vehicles. The company is callef Spring Creek if the link doesn't work.
