Hi John, It is pretty low with about 8-9" of clearance. As long as I don't loose the rim on the flat tire everything clears. I drive slow anyway. She is not an off road trailer for sure. One thing though, if you have the space behind the axle, it does help to keep you tongue weight down a bit. I also like the adapter to use your TV's spare...pretty cool.

Well, since I was dumb and didn't plan for a place on the teardrop when building. I'm going buy a spare mount to place in the back of my truck. At least the tire won't be rolling around in the truck bed. I have tried to figure out where it would go on the big woody but there really is no safe place. Ugh. The next build I'll be sure to plan for the spare tire. I really don't want to have the teardrop unbalanced driving on the highway. Thanks for all the good safety advice.

I once had a 1998'ish Nissan pick up that had the crank down mechanism so that give you another model to maybe find as junked. Sounds like a good idea too!
