I've found when spraying Helmsmans Spar urethane it's crucial to have good light to see if you get it wet enough yet not run..., not wet enough, you get orange peel and, unlike lacquer which I have sprayed for decades, urethane is a bear to sand out smooth...Best to have an orbital sander for that...

My woody I plan to epoxy over the raw wood, then the spar urethane, like I do cedar kayaks....

I have already found that sanding the urethane is a pain. Great upper body workout. I think mine looks streaky because of the application, or so I have been told. So, after we are done I will sand it down again and then stay on a thin layer. I actually have checked back on your build and noticed there weren't any updates. Is it finished? I will have to check out your other builds. You do some great work!

I picked my stain before anything else in my teardrop build. Before I knew much about wood. It ended up working out pretty well for me, but I didn't always get exactly what I wanted. Living and learning and loving how much knowledge I have gained. Thanks for your input and I hope to see some updates from you as well!

I hope to be camping in a few weeks. Need a goal so that I don't take into the Fall to complete it!! Thanks for your support, Sharon!

Thanks, KC. Dad and I had to laugh yesterday as we were working because it was hilarious that we thought we could finish up the build last week in 2 days. It took us two days just to trim out our doors!!   The end is in sight... just not sure if it is near or far ;)

All through my build my friends and family have asked, "when do you think it will be done?", and I say honestly, "I don't know, but I know what I want it to be like when it is done."

Exactly, KC! I know what I want it to look like when I am done and for the most part, it is turning out exactly like I imagined it! :applause:

Here is the progress for this weekend. Dad is heading back to NJ tomorrow so I won't have more work completed until Thursday.

We got the side door handles installed, the headboard shelf rail installed, added window frames on the interior in maple, laid out the aluminum to cut and fit, stapled the aluminum, routered it (holy flying aluminum!!), installed the side marker lights, and blocked the rear tail lights and license plate holder for the hatch.

Here are the pics!

That's it, Folks! Tomorrow is my first day of summer!! Yay! I will be finishing the trailer by next weekend so I can get out and go on a couple trips this summer!

Talk about progress. You have flown through things in the last month or so. You will be camping before you know it.

It looks great!

Congrats on almost being there.

Thanks, everyone!! We are making the final push this weekend. Dad comes home tonight and we will be working Friday through Sunday to see if we can finish. :)

This has been a long, hard process and we have had equipment difficulties and a hard time finding the wood we needed, but overall, the tear is looking the way I want it to.

Again, thanks so much for all the encouragement and support! You have all helped me so much! I should have pictures to post this weekend. :)
