A refrain RANT from the past from 11/2/13working on it wrote:Today, I installed the slidemounts, and awaited the delivery of the aluminum box, from FedEx. I checked out every vehicle coming down the street (dead-end, so if I missed the delivery coming in, I'd catch it coming out). No delivery. But Fed Ex reported that it was delivered at 2:21 to my front door. I just happened to be in the front yard between 2 and 2:30! Nothing came down the street. This is the 4th time that Fed Ex either delivered it by throwing it in the yard (after 8pm), delivering to the wrong address, driving past my house (with me standing there waving at the driver, and saying that no one was home- special extra cost delivery!), or not delivering it at all (lost). 4 times in a row. When I had my wife order the box on e-bay, using her PayPal account, I forgot to tell her to arrange different shipping methods: never Fed Ex again. She said it would be OK; they couldn't screw up again, surely! I know otherwise: I run shipping-receiving at work, and you wouldn't believe the problems we have with any or all of Fed Ex's various organizations. By the way, I ordered the slide mount from Oregon, drop-shipped from Missouri: promised on Friday, here on Thursday (early), placed on my front porch, and the doorbell sounded. It was our usual UPS driver (many years now). Same difference at work between the two companies. Just venting....I've just vented to a nice customer service rep in Colorado (no bad words), but my BP is up about 40 points I bet. I've told everybody I know that I'd rather pay more just to avoid Fed Ex !
It happened again... no, not Fed Ex this time...the USPS instead. I forgot to mention that for every time that Fed Ex screwed up over the last twenty years, the USPS has misdelivered something at least 20 times as much. There haven't been two weeks in that period, where something for someone else was delivered to us, or our mail went to another house a block or two away (one guy actually put a sign on his box that I or my wife -our real names- do not live at
their address). I gave up all my subscriptions to magazines years ago, because they seldom ever reached me. I was waiting on a couple of "corner draw latches" for the trailer, saw the USPS put mail in the box, and found no parts. Returning to the house, I tracked the Amazon package to the USPS site, which stated that it was delivered (and signed for by the Consignee-me-, at 5:41pm, when I was actually watching the mailbox). I said this before, and once again, I'd rather pay extra to a brick-and-mortar store locally, than to order online. Only the local UPS driver seems to be able to actually read addresses. So, no trailer build progress (or improvements) to report, just another old guy complaining ....
Update, next day: package was in my box this afternoon...I'll never know who previously had received it, but I suspect the guy on the next block. He put another sign up today, even larger and in bright yellow, on his gate, so he must've got it and today put it in my mailbox. We've been exchanging mail for twenty years now, and we've never met! Now to install the draw latches on my hatch!
