Welcome,

You are going to be joining a great group of people who all have a common interest in camping. The St. Croix Chapter of Tearjerkers are all very enjoyable to be around. You and your family are going to have a lot of fun.

You might want to consider being a little more specific as to what part of Minnesota you are from. People are going to ask.

Are you a fair weather camper?

or the brave sort that doesn't let a little snow stop ya.Image

I tossed down some 3/4 oriented strand board that had been globbed over with fence post treatmentImage

bolted it to the frame then placed closed cell foam board safely on top and covered with a lighter 7/16 osb to protect the foam and distribute the load to eliminate crushing the foam center.

Here is the goop on the floor of my tiny caboose house.....Image

The Co-Director of the St. Croix Chapter is Tim McGinty. He has already gone through the teardrop building process and is located in your area (St. Michael, MN). Good person to get in contact with.

Welcome! The build is lots of fun but it is hard to beat camping in a Tear that you built yourself! I used plywood to build the floor. I used an asphalt based fence paint to weather proof it. I would be happy to answer any questions you have if I can. Send me a PM and I will send you my phone number.

Thank you all for the replies. I am not a fair weather camper. I love to go winter camping and build igloos for my shealter. (very easy to do). The wife still isn't sold on that just yet.
