A wasted morning

Today was the day I was going to get the aluminum for the tear...got up early...fueled the truck, it took 50$, drove 50 miles..there it was...all nice and shiny....103" .040 aluminum on a roll...told the guy, "I'll take 16 feet"...ok sir...it'll take us a minute to cut it....90 min later..."well, our air compressor is down and we can't cut it" do you have electrical shears I ask..."they're in the shop" the guy calls around to some of the other trailer shops...what they have is dinged up ends, nothing on a full roll...I shuffle back to the truck and plan for next Fri. to pick it up...I'll call first...so it ends up 4 hours wasted drove 100 miles in Calif traffic, and 17$ in gas, came home empty handed...I needed to do yard work this weekend anyway.... I think I would have pitched a fit. I know I would have gone to the first big box and picked up some hand shears. Take a pair with you next time you go. Just in case they have a problem between the time you call and the time you get there.

In fairness to them...they did offer me a 29 foot piece that was cut and coiled for the price of the 16...problem was..both edges were trashed...looks like someone dropped the coil on both ends...and it was pretty gouged up...scratches I can handle with my metal finish treatment...but the gouges were not going to work..a few dents too...didn't see how I was going to get what I wanted out of it, since I need to get mine and Owens 4' tear out of the 103"...oh well...it's not like I don't have other work to do on it, but with the bug hatch this year I don't want to go too long till I try to shoot the clear on the aluminum....Doug

Oh man, wish me luck, I finally got a hold of the Lufkin trailer guy. I called him on Tues and Thurs, without a call back. I called him today, he said that he was trying to get me a better price but I told him that I need to pick it up on Monday. I'll bring my electric shears just in case. My trip will probably be closer to 200mi both ways.

Rocky...price here for the 103" was 9.89 a running foot...works out to be 1.15 a square foot...that's as good as I could find...but this is Calif....plus gas, time wasted etc....Doug

The pizza is just starting to brown...

Didn't forget the corn meal this time.
8 oz. Taylor & Sons Original Country Sausage-cubed.
8 oz. Taylor & Sons Smoked Cottage Bacon-diced.
1 Taylor & Sons Smoked Polish Sausage-sliced.
1 Taylor & Sons Smoked Linguica-sliced.
1 lb. Shredded Mozzerella Cheese.
Little bit of Contadina Pizza Squeeze Sauce.
1-Large Pizza Skin. (Stolen from Babe's Pizza)

Will add a spinkle of Italian Seasoning and Fresh Shredded Parmesan Cheese when it comes out of the oven.

A bird hit a power line, and the entire valley has been without power all day. Couldn't get the car off the rack, no water, etc. A hot day in the desert doing nothing!
