7x14 CT project underway

Converting Cargo Trailers into TTTs

No pics tonight but I did get the black water tank vent ran, black tank drain lined out and all fittings cut, gray outlet cut and drain located. Tomorrow night if all goes as planned all drains will be complete. Fresh water tank in place and has enclosure built, fill port installed but need to connect hose to tank, waiting to flush tank. Also plan to start construction of bed frame tomorrow, but may have grandchildren interference, oldest granddaughter starts college in the the fall and needs a PC set up for study.

I think I should have this rig complete in two weeks and ready for trials.

I have gotten a lot done since the last post. Plumbing is complete, all water lines ran in Pex. I haven't hooked up and tested the pump yet but will shortly.
Shower curtain track is installed and just need to get curtain and a couple of towel bars and the toilet / shower area will be complete. I built the bed frame over the weekend and it turned out very well.
Just have a few cosmetic and convenience items to install but the insides are pretty much complete. I need to apply the roof coating, probably do that sometime this weekend.

I think I finally have it completed. I think I did pretty well for working evenings and weekends in just under two months. I'm sure as time passes there will be some things I will find that need to be changed or done differently.
I don't always think to take pictures, guess I need to work on that.
This pic was taken just before I made the doors for the bottom cabinets, I was also leak checking the fresh water tank so the cover was off it.
Image
Here I had loaded the RZR and filled the water tank full for a test pull with our 2003 Quad Cab Ram. The Ram takes the tongue weight perfectly, but is lacking in the power. On flat roads it did fine but we all know roads don't stay flat and we do go to the mountains to play with our RZR. Fortunately we have a 99' Durango with a 5.9L that pulls just fine, but it doesn't like the tongue weight so I ordered an air bag suspension kit to hopefully take care of that.
Image
Decided to mount the spare on the exterior of the ramp door.
Here I pulled of some decking to reinforce the door.
Image
Image
Here it is mounted.

Plenty of room when ramp is down.

Where did you get the flooring? I'm looking at doing something like that in my 7x14 CTC.

Got it at Lowes, sorry took so long to respond. We haven't had much time to use the trailer but that is fixing to change. My wife had some medical issues but is recovering nicely.

I decided after one trip to Lake Murray towing with our 99' Durango with a 5.9L engine that pulled fine but could tell it was working that we needed an upgrade on the tow vehicle. I did some serious searching and found a 01' F250 Super-duty with a 7.3L Power-stroke Turbo Diesel with less than 80k. Plenty of power and then some, room for upgrade if the need to arises on the toy hauler department. I installed some vent covers so the two vents could be used in the rain and also could remain open while in transit. Pretty much everything has worked like a champ. The air mattress was a "Fail" as it leaked the first time we used it. I have since took two memory foam hospital mattresses and made one two piece Queen mattress that is rather nice.

Oh, one thing to be on the lookout for, probably a rare event, I have had this trailer for more than 6 months and towed it a few times but always during daylight hours. Last Saturday after DE-winterizing it I was getting ready to back it back into the shop and for whatever reason I turned on the lights as I was approaching the shop and the trailer brakes locked up. They have worked fine (brakes) since I had first got it but never drove with lights on. Come to find out when I checked underneath I found whoever wired it they wired the negative side of the front axle brakes to the green marker lights instead of the white ground wire. Pretty bad feeling, what might had happened if I had been hammering down the highway at 70mph and kicked the lights on.

Just need to find some Krylon to match close to trailer. Got the door off eBay.

Here it finished.

Loaded and ready to go. We had a tornado hit near us the night before and had tons of tree damage at our place.

Worked like a champ. No problems and very comfortable, thinking about adding a awning though as it rained most of the time we were there. I actually tied up a tarp and used it for a awning which worked pretty well.

You should stand those beds off the wall 4 or so inches then you can always leave the mattresses or foam on there so you dont have to always make up and down the bed its just always set. :)

7x14 CT project underway

Slyhuntr wrote:I'd be happy with an outside shower, also the places we go have facilities but my wife demands a shower. I'm screwed. Was down there today installing the A/C and I think I have the shower / RR figured out.

Here are some pics from today.

Just about couldn't bring myself to hack a hole in the roof.... I pulled some of the molding off is why you can see a green wire hanging.

The unit was fully seated in this pic, it is now.

The blue lines represent walls, the line in front of the toilet is where a platform will need to be for the toilet. The blue line under the toilet is the frame of the trailer, the reason for the platform. I have to raise the toilet in order for the sewer line to clear the frame. Think about using a shower pan liner for the "shower pan", I know red neck. And I'm kicking the idea around of using vinyl floor covering to cover the walls of the bathroom. I have seen shower curtain bars that are curved and will keep the toilet area dry since it will be up on a platform. These are just ideas, not sure if I will go this route but I can see it in my mind and I believe it will work.

I also have a lark I'm converting. How did you brace the roof for the a/c? Nice build!

Nice rig. One question, is your "Black Tank" the 3" ABS pipe between the Toilet and the slide valve or do you also have a small tank under the raised floor as well? Forgive me if you posted that, I may have missed a page or two.

Have you had any "solids" buildup issues in that long pipe run?

I installed a 6 gallon tank in the pedestal below the toilet. Before I went to drain it at Mulberry I "topped" it off with extra water so I would have a good flow to clear the line, did too well as it about blew the hose off the dump station when I opened the dump valve.

I made some braces out of some extremely hard wood I had from a pallet. I trimmed them a little on each end where I could twist them into place between the roof joists so the sit on the lip of both joists. Sorry I didn't take pictures of this and it is kinda hard to explain how I did it. If you look at the pictures I posted showing the hole in the roof you can see one of the pieces of wood in place.
