Hi fellow Tear Droppers! :D A few months ago, the guy in the cube next to me said: "Have you ever seen a Teardrop camper?" At first, it was a casual curiosity, but slowly over the next few months, my curiosity turned into a full-blown obsession. I checked my bank account, the funding is there, so now I am dreaming about building one. It will absorb all my free time, but as an engineer with an artistic flair, It’s a perfect match for my next garage project.

For me, the outer curve shape is the most important part of a teardrop. I have spent the last few weeks designing a unique curve that I really love. I think exclusivity is part of the draw for Teardrops. I drew my curve in Adobe Illustrator. It has no compass created arcs and never stops bending, so there are no flat spots anywhere. Weather I can actually make the curve or not, I don't know.

I'm just reading a TON of stuff on this web site, and watching all these videos on YouTube: Scott's Workshop.

I have a lot of questions, so I'm trying to research all the answers.

My Volvo C30 has a towing capacity of 1500 pounds. Most Teardrops seem to weigh less than 1000 pounds.

I'm planning on building a 4x8. Here's my curve:

You may notice port holes, and that unique door. I have no plans to buy RV windows. My biggest inspiration is UK-Corlett http://www.tnttt.com/gallery/image_page.php?album_id=1622&image_id=13836

Neat...

But what are you going to do to get ventilation?

Ventilation, Very good question. Screened windows with removable glass. My thought is to use a glass bacon press for my smaller window and use Lexan for my larger window in the door. The larger window will not be removable, the bacon press can be removed and replaced with screen. Or some sort of hinged screen that flips in place. It's one of those " I'll figure it out when I get there"

And I'm considering a slightly different fan system. I'm considering putting a hole in the floor and sucking air into the trailer instead of the usual fan on top pulling air out. That way if I'm napping in the heat of the day, the air from under my Teardrop is cooler.

These are just my ideas. Obviously I'm a newbie
