Max battery charge from solar panels 670 watts Flooded

Max battery charge from solar panels 850 watts Lithium

Not sure what exactly is being compared? Power in batteries? Power out of panels? Same day and conditions? ???

Here MtnDon

this explains it better then I can .........Why Flooded batteries SUK

Transfer Efficiency of energy produced from renewable energy sources to storage batteries can significantly influence cost of the overall system.
Poor transfer efficiencies of lead acid require 20% larger solar installations when compared to LYP lithium storage systems. Lead acid batteries due to their high internal resistance have a
transfer efficiency of 72 - 76% compared to 96% transfer efficiency of the LYP battery. A 50W, Solar panel installation can produce 400 whr of energy during an 8 hour period,
but only 304 whr of this energy will be stored by lead acid batteries, meanwhile a 40 watt solar panel installation with LYP batteries would store the same amount of energy during an eight hour period.

Now since I'm not a rocket scientist, I just verified this by casual observation of 670 vs 850 watts on my charge controller

New record today, sucked in 5,000 watts on 1,000 watts of flat laying panels

That's 5 x total panel output. WOW !! I'm sort of shocked at those figures today.
If your getting that with your flooded batteries let me know - then I was doing something wrong.

Cheers

Prepare for a call from NASA as they might want tips. I've never come close to 5x rated watts on my 230w panel. What kind of meter set up are you using?

I'm knocked totally flat myself, I'm reading right off the meter on my outback 80 CC

Had you told me your getting that Before , I would have call you a LIAR ..... :x
But that's what I'm seeing when I switched to 16kw - Lithium batteries from flooded 400 AH
It's making all the differance in the world - I'm shocked myself

Bruce is the only one here that can give us the scientific explanation.
I'm used to getting about 3 x panel daily output before.
Laying flat I thought that was about normal myself.

ANYBODY HELP ?

The picture of my CC is posted on my blog - so I don't need to call myself a liar :x

SLURPING down the FREE solar AC -

I feel like I'm stealing from the power company aka PG&E
aka - Pacific Graft & Extorsion

This time no problems with heat gain or volt drops or other flooded battery problems
Power was holding steady , even climbing a little YAHOO !

Now I just need to live another 10 years to get my money's worth

OMG - where are all the Lurkers today ?

Well by Monday the Fat Lady will hopefully sing for OTTCT !!
Then Bob will take over with his mistery build - many years in the planning.

For today it was below 85 ... The new 5,000 btu window AC was using 335 watts per hour
It keep the interior nice and cool at 72 deg ..... But keep in mind The big guy was inside, tv & VCR running,
ARB running, 85 watt large fan Inverter & charge controllers making bookoo heat
& batteries are being pretty much fully charged. the charge controller was venting hot air 5-7 times per hour-
Whenever it produces over 500 watts the CC internal blowers come on - quite loud if I may say.

Cheers OTTCT

The fat lady was singing today, but after 10 minutes I had to pump her down.....
She was nice and ICE COLD - but I musta have made the 2 flared pipes to thin ....
She leaked a little :x :x :x

But Chinese wiring diagram worked out ok ....
No error codes ..... She booted up with shorepower AND the outback 2,800 watt PSW
I did notice she sucked over 700 watts however.
Now I gotta dig out more tools, some R410a gas, my gauges & maybe vacum pump :x :x

Re: OverTheTopCargoTrailer 7 x 16

Postby OverTheTopCargoTrailer » Wed Aug 13, 2014 7:20 pm

Finally today I got the fat lady to sing all day long & how SWEET IT WAS

The interior & exterior unit run like a super stealth submarine
Maybe at best 1/3 the sound level of a window AC
Much quieter then an interior floor fan
If the tv is on - the outside AC can barely be heard standing next to the trailer .....

BUT boy does it crank out the heat, feels like 120+ at the condenser , evaporator is around 55 when set at 62 deg.

It runs a little different then I thought its starts slow - cranks up 5 notches, slowly cranks down to 1 notch
Then runs about 5 min on ultra low - then shuts off & the cycle repetes.
It just came on at 1.79 kw reading ran about 5 minutes & shut off at 1.85 kw

Just came on 5:13 pm at 1.85 kw - just switched to ultra low 5:15 pm 1.88 kw , just switched off 5.18 pm at 1.90 kw.
5 minute run time 50 watts soooooooooooo SWEET 8) 8) 8)

Cheers OTTCT

What say yee , anybody wanna guess

7 x 18 trailer , mini split SEER 20 - 9,000 Btu heating & cooling, 675 watts running max

5 hour run time - interior temp 76 , exterior temp 84

What is the calculated power usage ?

HINT between : ZERO - to 3,375 watts usage
