any Benroy owners?

Postby tdprice54 » Thu Jul 17, 2014 7:12 pm

I have bought what I think is an original Benroy. It has been painted a dark blue but upon beginning repairing the trailer I have found traces of the red paint in the door jams and under the fenders. The tongue has been crudely modified to lengthen. My question to any Benroy owners ,is where are the vin or indentifying numbers on the trailer. I feel like they were probably on the area that was modified. Also anyone have pictures of the original coupler and jack? Any information and help is appreciated :?

Hi tdprice54,

Your vin number is/was on the tongue, left side. Just a simple stamp.

Lots of chat & pics here that may be of interest.

Please post some pics.

Thx!

P.s. You can use the search function to find other benroy stuff. Where are you located?

I think the Benroy came in two colors, red and blue on aluminum…out of Burbank….the east end of Simi. :)

Well, just goes to show you, your guessing. Benroy’s didn't have a blue option. Also Burbank is several miles East of Simi. it's even east of the San Fernando Valley. A member here on the forum (hasn't been around for a few years) painted his KIT KAMPER 'Spam can' blue and lives in Simi Valley. :o

Ha! Yeah yeah, I know I was stretchin' simi a bit but I wasn't sure about the riddle.

I don't remember where I saw the pic but someone out there had a benroy with the original graphics but in dark blue. Oh, maybe it was that teardrop book. Will have to take a peek later.

Do you have any more data on Benroy's Gage?

Hi Gage,
Ah, found it. It was in Douglas Heister's Teardrops book.
Funny thing is everything else is in color except for the Benroy. Tinted perhaps? Maybe blue, maybe red.
Also notice that the rear end of the paint job doesn't have the angle. Could have been redone.
Interesting.
Anyway, this is why I thought there may be blue ones out there. The mind sees what it wants. :D

Yes it was "SPAM" blue but the complete trailer was painted. I bought from a fella out of Montana but had it here in Texas. I don't know how to post pictures but can email pictures to someone if they can help.

Is the vin # close to the trailer or closer to the coupler. I guess I need to get the wire brush after it and just take all the paint off and see if I can find any numbers. I live in south east texas north of Houston in Conroe,Texas. I am oriinally from west texas where it's not so hot and humid.
