Hi All, just caught your posts and want you all to know that if you have any questions about my litle 6 ft stacker built on a 4 ft by 40 inch HF frame. just give me a hollar. At 245 lbs, it tows like a dream and is my favorite of all of my 3 teardrop trailers. Five in all, but I got rid of two of them. Now lets see, what will the next one be like. Actually I am considering a Good Year blimp shape, and if filled with enough helium, should tow very nicely...........just kidding. However, my Stealth Fighter is the ultimate in aerodynamics. :-)

deciding on what to do with the hatch took a long time and lots of lurking on the site. we decided we wanted a stop and ribs like Monstro's.


The ribs are 3/4" hardwood oak plywood. Cutting through 2 layers was a little bit of a push with the old saber saw.

Tell me about your tongue extension please. How long is it, bolted or soldiered? A U or square and the dimension please.
I'm following your build almost exactly on this. The information on the stacker you sent me has helped tremendously.

We used part of the cardboard profile to figure out the hatch.



We used a dressmakers tape to figure the even distance between spars.


1/8" spacers between the side and hatch.


The Kreg's jigg worked great. We decided to go with a stop.

Draping 1/4" ply to let it shape to the trailer. A lot of nail biting at this stage,decided to start above the hatch and go forward. glued and screwed with titebondIII.


drew lines across to get screws all lined up


This shows our lip on both sides. when we built the frame we made it narrow enough for a 1/4" 4x8 sheet going the long way,with about a 1/4" lip on both sides.Next i'll fill that with Bondo before sanding.

OOPS That Titebond really works! noticed after a late night spar attachment that something was definitely off

Looks great I'm chickening out on aluminum and just going with paint! What are your over all dimensions?
sleeper only? we went with a head board instead of a regular galley.

Temporary hinges, It works and will be a good height for the tent off the back for ventilation.

Taking a break from work and trailer. Went to York for the day. The boys are climbing around here somewhere. 5 minutes alone.
Next- draping the front with wet towels to help it bend. then lots on Bondo.

The roof is finally on. Added the 1/4" plywood skin, had a little trouble lining it up side to side.Will patch and sand with bondo. Glad we made it 47 1/2" wide so we had that extra bit of play on both sides.

I applied resin in October. I left the light on it while it dried. When Gordon came out to put the trailer away,thousands of gnats were stuck in the glue. Shades of Jurassic Park. Thankfully most of them brushed off after a few days.

Finally back to work on the trailer it was a long winter without a garage. Mixing up Bondo for the hatch on May 12th—with shorter hair!

One of the doors for our headboard/cupboard. Love the wood! It was a paint grade panel from Lowe's cut in half.

The hatch set in place. It fits! still have a lot more sanding to go. Need something better than the little palm sander. I'll have to see what I can borrow.
