A 4'x6' sleeper for two? The Glampette's IRG recap

Postby deleted » Mon Aug 18, 2014 2:20 pm

LOL For those who told me 4'x6' was too small when I designed The Glampette. You were wrong. . . And you were right ;)

While I was able to convert my 17" counter into a comfortable top bunk for me to sleep on, Alaska Teardrop would have appreciated a few more inches on the massive 30" wide 5'10" long lower mattress, especially since he's 5'9" tall, while attending the IRG with me. But, I did point out it was solely within his power to have made the trailer longer. . . I think we both wished he hadn't listened to me and had gone to 7' as it would have made the nights a lot more comfortable for him :R Then again I'm sure it never occurred to him that in a million years he'd ever be sleeping inside the pink walled glamper he built for me

Here's a montage but there's lots more pictures of lots of trailers and what the IRG was like in today's blog post: http://theflirtyguide.blogspot.com/2014/08/attending-irg-tiny-travel-trailer-rally.html

And a special thank you to Dean and Joanie for hosting such an incredible gathering. It exceeded my expectations and I missed the first half! Hopefully in 2016 I can be there from start to finish. And thank you also to everyone here on the forum who kindly introduced themselves. It was FUN meeting everyone!

Thanks Woodbutcher! I hope you make it out in 2016. It's a gorgeous place. One great thing about it was there weren't any bugs, at least not that I saw. To go from the quiet, bug free redwoods to the mosquitos of Michigan has been quite an adjustment

Good review, Stacie! You captured it all in your blog. Thanks for doing such a great job! :applause:

It will be interesting to see what you think about the Great Lakes region, this winter. Some Californians love it; others, not so much. It's probably really a little of both, with the quiet of a fresh white snowfall and the "yuckiness" of melting brown snow slush. (You may have already experienced some of that in Washington state.)

Best wishes!

Hi Stacey
Sandi and I enjoyed meeting you, Fred, & Glampette in person.
Putting personalities to those we have only had an opportunity to meet here on the Forum is what Gatherings are all about.
The Forum definitely gives us a head start on making new friends, and something to look forward to while making the trek to specific Gatherings. But the new friends we have made since turning right at the end of the driveway for the first trip to a Gathering last April have made up for all of the hard work it took to build our Teardrop.
We look forward to camping with you again in the future.
Maybe a trip to Canada is on your bucket list??? If so please feel free to drop in for a stay at The Farm! 8)

Thanks on the blog post Sharon. I really wanted to paint a picture of what a rally is like and what the possibilities are as far as designing a trailer for a lot of people I know who don't have trailers yet but toy with the idea. And. . . I was here last October when the first frost hit and the mosquitos died that night. Have to say I'm thinking winter could be my favorite season here for that reason alone. And it's beautiful, and peaceful, and as long as I have a wifi connection I'll never be bored

It was a pleasure meeting you and Sandi Brian. I definitely hope to make it to the Dam Gathering next year since I missed it this year. And for sure I'd love to come visit your farm some day. . . I wish I'd have had time while I was in Spokane earlier this year but then I don't think you were there then, you were already out on the open road. Thank you for the invitation. I'm sure it'll happen someday.

Stacie,

Great job on the review!

Rob
Waiting for "someday" will leave you on your deathbed wondering why you didn't just rearrange your priorities and enjoy the time you had, instead of waiting for a "better" time to come along...
