In ever worry about running out with my 500 gal in ground tank. The gas grill is connected to the house line. Now, I must never forget to shut the grill off.

Jerry, you surely are trying to push the state of the art, aren't you?
Very intriguing.
I trust it will work great for you.

The thing that some folks are missing about this is that the inverter split mini can run at less than full bore. Less than maximum BTU cooling. It all depends on what the gizmo figures is needed to provide the requested temperature.

I can see its gonna be a rocky road however. :x :x

That is exciting in terms of what we can look forward to in the future for our homes. I know how to basically heat my house for almost $0 with radiant heat for about $15,000 more in investment. Now to maybe someday cool it with solar is is great. But will it happen at a pace that will make it affordable in my lifetime (not a long time)?

If you need a 1000 watts of panels in addition to the $3000 for the unit, you would get a far better payback by just adding additional panels in grid-tie mode.

If this is for a new install it might make sense. On the other hand, you can trick the grid-tie panels with the enphase inverters to work stand-alone which would allow you to isolate your normal AC unit and run it off solar without all the hassle of a grid-tie install.

Exciting regardless.

you might wanna put in your order for one of these - real solar window ac

I'll pass. I think an inverter mini split, that can also supply heat makes more sense to me, even it it means having to use a DC-AC power inverter to make the AC power for the mini split. We have to heat in the winter too and if we could use PV solar to make heat efficiently that would be a big plus. Of course is one is on grid and using cheap natural gas to heat, the mini split heat option doesn't save as much.

That unit is still a window box and I believe that means it still sits there making a lot of noise like any window unit. AC or DC there is still a compressor at work, plus the fan. The Sanyo mini split my friend in CA has had the for a few years has impressed the heck out of me. The indoor unit just whispers and I would love that.

MtnDon

I was jus kidding @ $2,900 plus 200 lbs , plus shipping, breaking your back & maybe even tax - I would not look at it either
Just thought is was interesting to throw out there. Had never seen one like that.
Good video to watch also.

I'm really surprised about my unit also like sanyo being more then whisper quiet
I have the exterior unit under my bed, the head at my feet & an extra blower fan
It's about a 1/3 to 1/2 as loud as what my window AC was , it's louder on the outside standing next to the vent blowing cold air.
No problem watching the tv. On a good day I'm using 1.25kw to keep her at 74 inside.
I'm guessing you could get by with .75kw per day in your rig.
I think that mine will go down when I move the vented inverter into the rear area.

Cheers OTTCT
