Extension Hose for Camp Chef Fire Ring

Postby ukuleleblues » Fri Aug 10, 2012 9:30 am

I want to add some length to a Camp Chef Portble fire Ring Model GCLOG http://www.campchef.com/gas-fire-ring.html. I downloaded the manual and it says the hose attaches to the handle with a 1/4 - 3/8 MIP 90 Degree fitting. I can't figure out which end of the 90 degree is 1/4.

I found this hose that looks like it will work http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/5-propane-appliance-extension-hose-assembly/30331

Here is a pic from the manual. Image

I used to work on hydraulic equipment 30 years aga but I don't know if propane hoses and connecitons are different. Has anyone extened their Camp Chef hose? If so where did you buy the extension. Any help would be appreciated.

I am looking at a Convert-A-Ball FD500 Fire Dancer Gas Campfire. Is there any more updated advise on it. Or other propane fire pits.

I don't have one, but 30 out of 34 reviews gave it a 5 star review on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Convert-A-Ball-FD ... ewpoints=1

The Convert-A-Ball FD500 Fire Dancer Gas Campfire being used . The photo makes the flame looks bigger then it is. The fire dancer it light and the lid screws down for easy travel. It is not a true campfire but it come fairly close to a small campfire.

I bought a portable propane campfire pit from Costco earlier this year and I used it on two campouts so far. I love the thing. I have been camping for over 45 years with wood fires but I have to say at 60 years old now that I am happily done with the wood fires that I have enjoyed for so many years.
No more buying wood, storing, stacking and hauling wood, no more splitting with all that messiness. My new campfire pit not only sets up in less time than it takes to start some kindling but it goes to full roar right away with NO smoke to constantly avoid and no tending at all. Plus it has the advantages of an included grill grate for heating water or cooking. Morning campfires are so so easy now. I just turn it on and start coffee and when I'm finished I can turn it off just as quickly without care of sparks or need of dousing.

We've had our Fire Dancer for over three years ... it's been through hell & high water ... and it's been next to almost every other brand out there ... for the type of camping we do, its ease of set-up, overall portability, amount of heat generated, and fuel usage, we haven't seen or experienced a better one ... bigger, prettier/fancier, and more flame (more fuel consumption) maybe, but none better.

I used to be a dealer, but you could (and still can) buy one online from Amazon and others for less than I have to pay for them (unless I want to buy a thousand of them) ...!

After much research and hand wringing, I went with the small camp chef. I made my decision mostly on price, size, canvas cover, and some on it's comparable BTU rating to the others. I'm sure most all of these work well. Thanks Debbie for your link to the comparison site. BTW, my Camp Chef fire ring is not included on that comparison link. I will say, it was the hit at my annual Labor Day Gathering in Santa Cruz this weekend. Everyone loved not dealing with dodging smoke. Thanks to all that shared their experience with these Propane Firepits. I Love mine.

After Memorial Day at the Gorge, we decided to get a Propane Campfire. Something we thought we would never consider.
So, on the way home the decision was made to buy the one Costco had on sale here in the NW. Picked ours up at the Wenatchee Wash. Costco for $89.00. It is an "Outlander" which as it turns out is made here in B.C.
Used it on our way to the IRG for the first time........it is wonderful!
Setup and take down are amazingly fast. Has an easy clip on carrying strap. Lots of flame (adjustable). Long hose. Uses very little propane. Price was right.
And at the PCF comparison we did at Applegate.....we felt that it faired very well.
We were proud of our showing and choice!

Sounds like you found a very good deal. Lowest price I could find was $129 thru Amazon. If I could find deals like this, I would renew my expired,Costco membership.

And I like the fact you can cook on it. One would tend to think why bring a camp stove?????

the one from Costco is a nice unit with a great $$$$. At the Dam Gathering this year I sold my 1 gallon propane tank to Brian and Sandi being I had replaced mine with a 2.6 gallon tank for my stove and my new Firedancer. Brian's comment to this was, he doesn't need one of those. Well at the IRG, what does he show me, their new Costco fire pit!!! They are real happy with it and I was really impressed with what I saw. For me, my Firedancer is fine being it's nice and small, fits inside a 14qt Camp Chef Dutch Oven carry bag for storage. But now Brian is trying to figure out his propane tank size dilemma?? Mine's just fine!!!!
