A 2013 Silver Shadow... should be a good addition to the group as it gives the public a compairson of modern teardrops to the antique, homebuilt and custom trailers others are bringing.

As for food, I was planning on bringing some Sonoma favorites... French bread and Vella cheese... hope that is OK.

Dave and Dawn’s Top Ten or Eleven Top Treasure Island Tips!!

1. Bring Money, Cash is King, you will need money for the toll bridge (3 axles regular toll of $5.00 times 3 axles - $15.00), the food trucks do take cards , some do not. You will want to go explore all the cool TI flea market vendors. You get a vendor discount being a part of the Flea Market!!
2. Get to the Pan Am Airline terminal at 7:30. The earlier the better as we will need to slowly bring over trailers 2 to 3 at a time. The Flea Market Opens at 10 am!!
3. When we get to the paddock most important thing is to unhitch tow vehicle and move to free parking area. Dano will have a nice piece of wood for your trailer jack wheel/stand as the ground can be a bit soft/moist. The Island is at Sea Level so it tends be damp in the am. Also this is not terra firma it is a land fill from the early part of the century.
4. WE ARE GUESTS!!! WE ARE NOT AT A KOA!! Please be extra nice to our hosts Angie and Charles. They love us being here as the crowds love trailers. Treasure Island is not a Campground, no outdoor BBQs. No Hunting!! Think of this as a TRAILER SHOW!!
5. WE ARE TRAILER AMBASSADORS!! Have a big SMILE for everyone!! Educate the public about your Teardrop or Trailer…..THEY LOVE THESE TRAILERS!! Have them VOTE FOR YOUR TRAILER!! The PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD is extra crazy special this year!! The evening vote count is a lot of fun. You want to make sure you get at least one vote.
6. Bring Shade, Bring folding Chairs and bring a table. The weather looks like it will be gorgeous, but have some shade and bring a comfy chair(s).
7. It can get COLD in the evenings, bring something warm to wear, Jacket extra blanket. We may have a fire chef or two to gather around to stay toasty.
8. Say HELLO to your fellow Trailerites!! Get to know each other!! Wear a name tag that we will have for you. This way if you want to take a break explore, go to the food trucks or take a health break your New Friend can cover for you!!
9. SAFTEY!! SAFTEY!! Be careful with your possessions, ASSUME that anyone will steal anything at any time. Petaluma had some one’s purse go missing as they came in and rifled through the trailer. Treasure Island is a mix of artists, wineries, and government housing. The Flea Market People are all very nice. There is Security on premise and overnight security as well. But be alert!! Also be careful with your vehicles and trailers entering and exiting the paddock, these people are not paying attention, ask for my or Dano’s help. Always think that person is not thinking like you.
10. Sunday Please stay till the end on Sunday. One it shows respect to the owners of Flea Market. Second SAFTEY there are a lot of Kids and adults wandering around. We need to understand that they do not pay attention to their surroundings. Trailers leaving are NOT SAFE!! SAFTEY FIRST!!!
11. Have lots of FUN!! There is so much to see and do!! Visit with the Public!! Have Gourmet Food!! It is so yummy!! The VIEWS!! THE VIEWS!!! DOGGIES WELCOME!!

Good Morning Angie!!

:D  :? :R  :worship:  ;)   :applause:

We are very ready!! I have heavily emphasized safety with the trailer people.

We are going to be early and ready to move the trailers slowly and careful into our area. We are going to pre meet at the Pan Am Airline Terminal (7:30 am) and then coordinate our move over to the area you have for us.

I am thinking you have the kids paddock area, petting zoo, and Bliss Dancing. Then the Food Trucks , Bar Area and tables, then after that the trailers!!! Sounds perfect.

They understand that public is not safety conscious at all or at any times. They also understand the need to stay till the end on Sunday for safety issues.

We look forward to a fun event where we share and educate the public about the trailers.

Let me know if there is anything I can help throughout the weekend at any time.

I will also have my cellphone on at all times if you need me.

Dave Kappadahl

Good Morning David,

We would like to host the teardrops on the Great Lawn across from the food trucks this year. The bliss statue area has kid jumpies, horses and a petting zoo.

We need everyone to arrive from 9am - 9:30am get the trailer unhooked and their cars off as quickly as they can. Our goal is to have all cars out by 9:30am - It get dangerous after that since we have shoppers arriving and walking about.

If anyone can not stay until the close on Sunday at 4pm then we need them to leave after the show on Saturday. We cannot have anyone actually bring their car in to leave on Sunday until around 4:30pm. It is again too dangerous since the shoppers are still in the venue.

Please convey these instructions to your members. We will be on the lawn to assist all between 9am - 9:30am

We look forward to having you there!

Angie

Dave, well let's see if this old guy can make it on 5 hours sleep... need to stop by the bakery that opens at 6, but it is only a little over an hour from Sonoma to TI so I should make it on time.... Would have bought the bread yesterday, but day old just isn't the same. See ya there.

Hi Dave & Dawn,
Thank you so much for organizing this weekend's Teardrop get-together on Treasure Island. We greatly enjoyed it, even though our Tear wasn't ready for staying overnight. I must have demonstrated my galley some 200 times to the highly interested public. I bet we have a gained a couple of new Teardrop fans ;-)
Thanks again!

What a wonderful idea, thanks Dave and Dawn. I had a great time talking to the constant flow of visitors which surprised me in their range of knowledge about our tiny trailers which ran from "you don't really sleep in there" to "I'm building one and came out to get ideas". This is my rookie year of attending gatherings and this one, like all the rest, showed me what wonderful people tiny trailer owners are.

:applause: Please give a big hand to Dave and Dawn (SuperShady1) for their expert planning and organization skills. Everything went very well and Dave and Dawn insured that we were well taken care of and had a good time while we were on Treasure Island. Thanks also go to Dano for his expert directing and parking skills!

Please recognize that this was a different kind of gathering, made up of about 17 teardrops and tiny travel trailers, demonstrating to the public what we are all about. Saturday and Sunday, we were on display and talking to the public about our trailers from 10:00 AM to roughly 4:30 PM, when the last public straggler ambled out of the market. (The gates opened at 10AM and the entry closed at 4PM.) We handed out at least 40 website address tags for this forum; so, we may be getting a few new members from our efforts. My guess is that we talked to about 400 people, give or take.... Below are some pictures, highlighting some of our adventure.

We met up at the old PanAm terminal:

Here's a view of San Francisco from our meeting place:

Here are some of us, lined up, waiting to be escorted to our display spots:

Although this picture doesn't do it justice (should have been taken from the air), the Flea Market was HUGE:

Some of the vendors had tiny travel trailers, too!

After the public and most the vendors were gone, we gathered for our appetizer potluck:

The Dancing Lady Statue (Gotta have a picture of that!):

I was told that you can only get this picture, with sunset above the bridge and the setting sun below the bridge at this time of year:

The sun goes down and the moon comes up:

Some after dinner music before heading off for a well- earned rest:

Ah-ha! You remember my mentioning that I hate city traffic and city roads, don't you?!
All the way over to Treasure Island on Saturday morning, I was saying to myself, "I can't believe I'm doing this!"
(We won't go into detail about my Friday night escapade, taking the wrong freeway exit and
getting lost on 'umpteen' one-way streets in parts of three cities, before I found my way back to my friends' home!)
I guess I'll always be an open-country girl at heart.
