Duct tape residue

Postby rooster » Tue May 16, 2006 8:30 pm

I have duct tape residue on my aluminum sides of my tear. I'm ready to put the trim on the edges. What is the best method of removing the tape residue? Help.

Jim, :?

Good old fashion nail polish remover does the trick , its basically acetone. Some of those new "orange oil cleaners work well too..except it really smells like oranges , which makes me go get a glass of OJ and some Stoli or Grey Goose , then I sit a light up a stogie and nothing gets done :tipsy: :cigar: :scratchthinking:

Steve is right on! Best stuff for removing the sticky residue of glue.

I got lots of that on aluminum while building my airplane...used acetone to remove it...very easy...WalMart, Target, etc all stock the stuff..its fairly cheap too.

Won't help remove the sticky stuff, but some advice for you. Don't use duct tape, the blue painters tape works good and does not leave a residue. :)

WD-40 quickly removed dried roof flashing sealant/caulk from my birch roof. If it can take that stuff off, it'll remove anything.

It did it in like 5 seconds.
Here we go again!

My fav. Use a plastic single edged razor blade for the stuff that needs a bit of help.
Commandant Louis Joseph Lahure has a singular distinction in military history - he defeated a navy on horseback. Occupying Holland in January 1795, the French continental army learned that the mighty Dutch navy had been frozen into the ice around Texel Island. So Lahure and 128 men simply rode up to it and demanded surrender. No shots were fired.
