Yep, that's them. You should be able to get them at any Hardware Store.

Have a good day.

That makes sense to ME. There's nothing holding the dang thing in for this kind of weight.

(And yes, that's what I guessed a T-nut was after thniking about it.)

You could run a piece of fiberglass over them to lock them in place. and the fenders will hide the fiberglass strips.

Have a good day.

Ira, go to the Lowes or Home Depot,, then to the fastener isle and look in the "speciality fastener" drawers,, look for Elevator Bolts, they have a inch or inch and a half round flat head on them,, measure,( before you go to the store) and allow yourself about a half or 5/8 inch over what the wall and fender thickness totals are, get the number of bolts to do both sides, an equal number of large washers(for outside of fenders),, and also get the nylon insert(aircraft ) nuts,,, locate ya fenders and drill thru both wall ;and fender mounting side,,, slide elevator bolts thru and tap with hammer to flush up to wall, on the outside put a washer on and a nut,, tighten to approximately 25 ftlbs of torque, that should snug them up without crushing ya wood,,, 3 or 4 of these per fender should hold it in place ,,, no buldge inside, plus you probably gonna have bolts hide by matterace and blankets,,, now sit back admire your work, have a six pack of bud and you can thank me later for how well it worked,,

chipper

Well, on Friday, I picked up hanger bolts--wood screw one side, machine screw the other. I also bought washers and WING NUTS to secure them, because I thought it would be easier tightening the wing nuts in that confined space.

Yeah--I'll keep an eye on them to make sure they don't loosen, whereas nylocks wouldn't. But for now, they'll do the job.

And no, I DIDN'T put them on yet. I smashed my index finger in the sliding patio doors Friday, and I can hardly bend it. In this condition, doing this ALONE, I figure I better wait a week. (Its also been REAL hot here.)

The one question I had was how to insert the hanger bolt. I can predrill, but how do you tighten the wood screw end into the TD side when the other end doesn't have a slot or anything fitted to accommodate a ratchet? A friend said to just put two regular nuts on there, and use the ratchet. Then remove the nuts. Hope he's right.

And I would have posted the following in "Immigrant Boycott Day" in Off Topic, but the thread got locked:

Gage is RIGHT! I may just get some ILLEGALS to install them for me!

He's right, you put the nuts on and tighten them together real tight then you put your ratchet on the outer on and screw it in. After you have it where you want it loosen the nuts and remove them, very simple to do.
Keep in mind that if you are going this route you will need to drill you pilot holes very straight and screw the bolts in nice and straight or none of your holes in your fender will line up, could be a little frustrating.
Use much patience glasshoppa.

The operative word here is "Nuts" with an s. Jam them together and you should be OK. Hmm maybe that is why they call the second nut a "Jam nut".
