LED Kitchen Bulbs - Troubleshooting Help Needed *Mission Accomplished *

So I wanted to replace the filament bulbs with LED ones to maximize my battery life.



I got two of these, and two others with a flat face for the inside reading lights (which work fine).



For the life of me I can't get them to illuminate in this fixture. They work in the reading light sockets in the cabin, just not here. (And vice versus - the reading light LED bulbs won't work in the kitchen either) I have 12V+ at the socket, no corrosion, etc.

Any ideas?

check the polarity of the fixture. try and flip the positive and negative wires.

12 volt is electric in, electric out, the bulbs don't care about polarity.

The 1156 type bulbs have the little ears straight across from each other the 1157 have high low ears. I had a similar problem and had to grind down one of the ears to allow it to make contact.

This statement is ok for incandescent (filament) bulbs ...BUT LED's are polarity sensitive, if polarity of power to socket is wrong they (LED'S) probably will not light....

This. I forgot about the LED requirement for correct polarity - needed someone to nudge my brain. Now hopefully the fixture isn't a pain to get off

So now that they're working, how bright it that fixture when it's running? Too much, just right or not enough compared to the old filament bulbs?

Whiter than the filament bulbs but just right, not glaring/annoying. I like this light because you turn one or both on so it's always the perfect amount.
