Hi Chris
Looking good :ok: especially now that the vinyl film is coming off. That pail blue wasn't doing a lot for it. Great recovery on the hatch, the checker plate really looks good on it, and with the lights and number plate there, it suits it well. Those last bits of trim are going to be fun to bend, unless you have the tool available. I did all mine by hand, but you have a much tighter radius.
Keep on with the good work, Frank.

Hi Frank, Im thinking of doing the radius`s with some form of wood but dont know what yet(the tool to bend the ally for them corners is about £12000!!!!  ) Wont be able to do anything for a few weeks now as will be working next weekend at least. :(

Hi Chris,
I hate to ask this question now, but. Is it possible to change the way around that you have fitted the edging trim?
It looks like it is an unequal rt/angle, similar to the one I used. It would curve much easier with the slimmer edge down.
Cheers Frank.

Hi Frank,
1,No
2,It is.
3,Probably

That was one of the wrong bits I ordered so I had to make do and it matches the ally round the hatch .Ive scrounged some bits of Maple so I might do the radius`s with that. The ally Ive got to go round the hatch is wrong as well so Ive got to cut it down along one side, it was a case of "well you ordered it, so you sort it!!" so in my own little way that is what Ive had to do and Im happy with the final result, makes me wonder what will go wrong when I do the inside.

Cheers

Hi Chris,
I am sure that with that bit of maple you will be able to make a nice feature on that corner and it will all look good.
As for the inside, you should have no problems there, but if you do I am sure that you will work your way around it, as you have so far. :)

Last weekend was productive one as I have managed to fit the aluminium round the door.
Before,

After,

Not pretty I suppose but it was the only way I could think of doing it in the time I had.

Fit the window,

The door,

And start making the radius covers for the front,

Off work at the moment for a few days as I (Mr Dumb) tried to stop a runaway van and got trapped between the door and a fence by my arm, now swollen and painful   .

Been there, done that. Fortunately at the time I was still young enough to bounce.

Hi KC,I could keep you enthralled for hours with stories of bouncing off/onto/into/out of things,Ive got the scars to prove it   .
Well then , this weekend the wife has gone to Barcelona with 3 of her friends so Ive been busy on the trailer, the outside is nearly finished(?),have got the radius bits on the front to do, and sort out the ends of the hatch waterproofing and also the outside of the door.
Over the last two days Ive managed to finish the ally trimming round the hatch and fit the cover strip across the middle, put the cover strip on the top of the hatch( just got to sort out how to finish the ends),make the brackets and fit the mudguards, fit me new rooflight, its a Fiamma with the provision for a fan( I thought I was buying a Turbo one with a fan but it was`nt ) Flippin Ebay!!!!!.

I also found out the lock does not work in the door, that round hole in the door has got to filled in and another lock found and fitted
And also when I fitted the mudguards I noticed the wheel/tyres are different sizes.

Sometimes you just have to take a deep breath and then soldier on. Laughing would be better though.

This past weekend I have managed to redo the doorlock and fit the rear locking handles. I recut the hole in the door and filled it with a piece of something I found in the garage, glued it in,

Image

When it had dried I sanded it down and made some cover plates from some 2mm stainless (again, found in the garage), drilled some holes and fitted me new handle, lock and catch inside.

I think it looks OK,its the best I could do with what I had available and it works :D :D .

The rear locks took a bit of thinking about(for me), I have fitted them through the side rail of the hatch, bolted them through the rear of the frame and fitted the locking part over the boltholes( understand??  ),

Am on holiday this week, working in garden and going to London on Wednesday, I am hoping to do a bit more work on the trailer as well.  .

Hey Chris,

My first ever post on here after stumbling across this site a week or so ago.

I live in Scotland or Britain just like yourself and I am curious if you are planning on just camping in the UK or going further afield into Europe? I have seen a lot of builds in my short time here of our US brethren installing AC units in their TDs. Do you think this is not required for camping in the UK (which I think I would say it is not) and therefore not something you are thinking of doing?

Hi Weegie, sorry its taken me this long to reply as me laptop collapsed and Ive been working some long hours lately, not planning on going abroad with the trailer and I dont think air con is a worthwhile addition.
Right then, been a few weeks since I last posted on here as stated above. Have been doing a bit here and a bit there on the trailer ,
Solar panel fitted and working,
Image
Inside covered with van lining carpet and walls covered with maps(not a lot of them)and solar panel charge controller,
Image
More maps,
Image
Built the rear cupboards today, fitted the isolater switch and voltage reader,
Image
Image
Anyone spot the mistake??.
Ive also built a inner frame round the door but for some reason have no photo of this. I am starting the inside cabinets tomorrow if wifey lets me out :D .
