Reminds me of when I bought a small sailboat decades ago. I'd never pulled a trailer before so had never backed one either. I came home from my first outing and spent goo-gobs of time trying again and again and again and again etc. The embarrassing thing is...the neighbors house was being re-roofed and all the workers took a break to watch me struggle with this. No one offered to help. They just had a good laugh.
And that was just my second effort of the day. I found out, when backing down the boat ramp to pick up the boat, that when it was empty, I could not see the trailer at all out my VW bus window. I had to back until it peeked out either side. Stop. Get out. Pick up the trailer and set it straight. Get back in and back some more.
