Greetings Sir,

Sadly but true. They do exist and overflow rather freely.

All is well. Just busy with life's ventures as you are. I still have some work to do on mine but have put them on hold for the winter. Got a kid getting hitched next month & a grandkid graduating high school in May. Between dealing with the women folk going all gaga over that, I got 2 road projects going on. I'm hoping I get some time to get some things done too.

I'll be checking in periodically to see how your doing.

Earnest
Dadgum it! I cut that board 5 times and it's still too short!

Earnest, great to hear from you. We, like you, have a bunch of other stuff going on so the CT has taken a back seat. Latest buy is a 7500 Watt duel fuel generatotor (portable), mainly to power the house during power outages, but can also be taken on the road, albeit a bit heavy, but it is portable. Got my local electrician wiring up a by pass so I can run parts of the house during a power outage. Push come to shove and we have to leave the suburban homestead we can load the big ginny in the CT and go off grid for a while.

In the CT we mainly rely on the Honda EU2000i ginny, which has served us well, but the bigger ginny option is nice to have. One thing I have found for the little Honda ginny is a fuel filler cap (found on eBay) that allows me to add an additional fuel can of any gallon size to feed it for extended operational hours with no more than a hose from the cap into a larger fuel can I.e., a 5 gallon fuel tank. The fuel hose stuffed into a 5 gal can will allow the Honda ginny to run for more than a day rather than hours. :applause:

Cindy,

It was not a good summer but we made the best of it. Hope to get back to our build. Lots to be done, a lot of corrections to be made. The linoleum floor we put in turned out to be a disaster. Gotta correct that first off.

Thank you for the welcome back.

Glad to see you back. If its an option, those foam tiles I put on the floor of mine are awesome for just camping/sleeping/warmth/comfort. Definitely kept the trailer warmer this fall than before. Great to stand on. Easy to sweep. Throw rugs on top are keeping them like new. If I were putting a floor in a conversion today, I wouldn't even consider anything else. I'm even putting some in the basement of my house.

I used those interlocking mats sold by Walmart in the sporting goods section. Couple packs of them to cover my entire floor. It helps with insulation and noise dampening as well.

Hey Don!
Glad to see you back. I've taken a busy sabbatical myself. Spent spring, summer & fall dealing with structural damage on the house. Plus dealing with a contractor dragging his feet and getting a half ass job. Hmmm.... Sounds like what I do for a living with road contractors. Yet I digress.

Lots of good stuff out there for your floor. I put together a do list for myself on my CT. Nothing major just stuff to make things better.

I'm looking at a sheet vinyl floor materials. What did you use and how did it go so horribly wrong?

Bhoo yah!

Back to correct some wrongs after five years of CT camping. Replacing the lousy linoleum floor is first on the list. What a nightmare that has been. It is rip out time, and replace with something better. Photos to follow.

Over the last year our CT has been parked on the side yard and mostly used as temporary storage place. It is time to correct that. Over the next few days everything will come out of it, and the lousy buckled linoleum will be torn up. I have to say that we went with the so-called commercial grade linoleum based on a visit to a local store. They sold us the lenolium and the glue to install it. That was a huge mistake. The first winter it set out,as it normally would, the linoleum started to buckle and pull up from the glue. I put a lot of work into cutting, fitting, gluing, and rolling the floor of our CT. Now it looks like a waste land. Lord only knows what I am looking forward to getting the linoleum up and then dealing with the dried glue, which no doubt, has stuck fine to the wood floor.

As said previously, photos to follow.

Thank you to the thousands of you who have followed our CT build.

Hey Don,
Here is something to ponder. Is it possible that the buckling was caused by moisture infiltration from the bottom side?
We have similar weather in MT. and that freeze /thaw/ bake cycle can do funny things. Might be advantageous to

McDave,

That is possible although our underside is sealed rather well. I think it more likely that the EPA mandated glue is the culprit. As I get into ripping out the linoleum I will get a better idea of the cause. It's just very frustrating because I took so much time to prep the surface, cut and fit the very heavy duty linoleum, spreading the glue, and rolling it in place... all for naught. Our 6x10 CT has been a wonderful asset. It keeps us warm in the winter camping trips and cool in summer trips. It is near ideal for boon docking. I also want to look into adding solar power.

Best regards,
Don

My mother has a Brookside TT in a private campground here in MI. 2-3 winters ago we had extreme cold. We found her flooring all split when opening the trailer in the spring. Local TT dealer said he had many to repair including new TT. He believed it was the flooring contracting.

Padilen,

I suspect that is what happened to our floor. It gets very hot in the summer here and very cold in the winter. The linoleum and the wood floor had divergent contraction/expansion coefficients. Knowing that I am not sure how to correct for it or prevent it regardless what new flooring I put in. Maybe I'll go with something like what Wolfscout suggested, interlocking mats of some sort.
