Having the factory install the insulation and windows will make it so that it will be pretty much campable from day one.

One other thing that you might consider sometime later on is the reflective roof coating. From what others have said it really makes a difference in keeping the trailer cool. I haven't done it yet, although I do have the paint. I am waiting for some better weather here to apply it.

I'll add that to my list. It gets really sunny and hot here in Texas, so anything I can do to keep the trailer cool will pay off in terms of my fatigue level -- particularly important when riding motorcycles at the track!

Here's a first cut at the galley design - cherry and aluminum in theme. The basic layout is straight from the SQUARESTREAM build, but I'm putting my own twist on it. I like the idea of a "floating" sink/burners. Not sure how possible it is, but worth experimenting with visually. In the cabinet from bottom to top: ice box, pull out drawer/cutting board, bread box with roller door, microwave, and cabinet with two doors and one shelf (probably).

For water/grey water storage, I have two 5 gallon water tanks under the sink area. I need to figure out how these should be plumbed. I wanted to put these directly on the trailer floor to avoid having to design any weight bearing structures for them. The porta-potty is likely to go into the space next to them -- also on the floor and/or on some kind of slide-out or rollers.

You think this could work?

zroadhouse, Howdy;

Nice thought structure, anything is possible, just
requires the proper amount of pondering ...

Waiting for the trailer, iterating on the design. These views show two different concepts for the beds/table in the rear. On the left side is a fold down three sided box attached to the wall with a piano hinge. On the right is a 2x4 box with the mattress on top. The dining table is intended to drop down into the rabbet on the front of the bench to form a king sized bed. I really like the fold down bed design and my brain is working overtime to figure out how to best support the weight of the bed both when folded up and when deployed.

Finally got a message back from the dealer with the official layout from the factory! I took this opportunity to add another overhead light in between the A/C and vent.

The trailer is scheduled to roll off the production line on 8/2! That gives me a month to try and get trailer security (to make sure no one drives off with it) and AC. I also need to decide whether or not I want to get airbag suspension and/or a weight distribution hitch for my Tacoma. I probably won't need it initially as the loaded weight will probably be about 2600 pounds.

Texas is a bit hotter than CO, but we've really enjoyed having a screen door behind our man door on the side. We ordered it from the factory this way. I often prop the main door open and just have the screen door closed when I'm in and out of the trailer working or cooking. Also nice to open the main door as you're waking up in the morning, but maybe you don't want all the ac to escape!

Good luck.

Will be watching your build! Would you mind taking close-ups of where the awning mounts at the top above the door? Will be installing mine when it arrives and our trailer bodies look identical despite different manufacturers.

Nice looking trailer man, I just bought a 8.5x20 to build into a toy hauler. I wish I would of had windows put in but I didnt. So I guess I'll need to add some myself.

Nice job zroadhouse!
The awning looks good and for all of my forethought and planning, I missed the window in the door and will need to get that in ... the trailer looks good

I just had had awning installed on mine and didn't get any pics yet ... I asked them to install the awning "C" rail as high as they could (within reason) to give me door clearance and it came out great; will your door clear okay?? Just wondering, if not, they make a little wheel that attaches to your door to keep it from rubbing on the awning...

Looks great ... :applause: :applause:

Well its finally time to get started on the build!

The interior design has evolved in the months since owning the trailer. The biggest change is the need to move more weight forward in the trailer for balance. I figured this out while transporting two motorcycles using my original placement in the plan but without a large counterweight in the front. I had some trailer sway that was solved by moving the bikes forward a foot or so. Thus in the new design takes this into account.

Here's the current plan - ice box, cook top, microwave, sink, and a hidden porta-potty are in the cabinets on the left. The closet space on the right will hold my motorcycle leathers, helmets, etc. In the middle I'm planing on a fold-up work top and cabinets for storage.

I used a bunch of spare cardboard boxes to mock up the space. In addition, the tailer will be my temporary shop to actually build all this stuff!

I'm currently planning on using face frame construction with either cherry or birch with 1/2" birch plywood for case construction. I've spent some time looking at Airstream restorations and found that face frame construction is the common method -- and that they routinely used 1/4" plywood in many places to save weight.
