Transporting ten foot .040 aluminium

Postby Graniterich » Thu Dec 04, 2014 11:57 am

I have found a local supplier that can provide 4 x 10 foot .040 panel for my roof. Although very nice, their inside sales gal is not able to provide answer to rolling/ bending the aluminium. Every question I ask she has to go talk to "the guys on the floor". I have a 2007 Honda pilot with about six feet with seats folded down. Do you think that I could gentle bend about four feet, and shove it in. Or buy some 2x4's and some how attach to Pilot and let hang out the back. Or could I roll into a four foot roll and strap it. Thanks for you help!

Why take chances of injury to the aluminum, your car or yourself.
If I were in your situation I'd just rent an enclosed 10' trailer and be done with it.
Aluminum is just too expensive to take chances.

I agree with Danny (but an open trailer will work especially if they have it on a pallet). I can't imagine trying to roll the stuff up.

I hadn't thought about renting a trailer! That sound like a good plan.

I have hauled .040 10'x4' aluminum in a 8 ft pickup bed tail gate down on 10' 2x4 s. Remember to tie it down so it does not blow out

I got mine from Alumapanel sign company ,a 100 mile round trip.I considered transporting it myself but found they do local area deliveries once a week.
Delivery on $100 plus orders was a whopping $10 fee delivered to my door.Only issue is 5' width only comes in white.
