So, what do you guys do to prevent sideways movement on the hatch ?
I know Ive seen a thread about this but cant find it.

(Quick update);
Outside skin is on and hinge all mounted for mock-up . Everything travels smoothly, just waiting on aluminum sheet .

OK so I decided to re-trim the TD cause the trim on is half-fast crap . Its basically 1" aluminum angle from home depot .

After looking at some trim from numerous places. I found some I liked and would cover up some crap work by the previous builder but................. then it dawned on me that I would be putting the screws on top wich I dont think would hold very well since they would screw right into the edge of the sidewall.

So now plans have been re-directed to find some "Deadsoft aluminum" in angle . Id like to find it in bigger than 1 inch
(1-1/4 or 1/2")

As always Utah sucks when trying to find stuff like this. When calling metal suppliers some knew exactly what I was talking about but didnt have any, and another place didnt know what it was.

Here's the question; Whats the code for Deadsoft aluminum ??????? (something like T- blank blankety blank)

Trying to tell the girl on the phone wasnt much help .

Alright my hatch is rebuilt and re-trimmed the whole trailer . I used putty tape and urathane to seal the trim.
Also used urathane to seal the hurricane hinge .
The problem now is I have a tiny leak near the center of the hinge. Not water dripping but the wood is wet . :x
I did a water test to make sure the water wasnt getting around the hinge and its not .

Could water be getting trapped under the plastic piece (that covers the screws) causing the leak .

Did you use anything to bed each screw and seal the threads where the enter the wood? Sounds like there might be one or two screws letting the water seep in slowly. Can you back them out one at a time and add some sealant to each one (caulk, silicone, glue, whatever)?

Dead soft aluminum is known as "Condition O", or "Annealed". Failing that, you can anneal it yourself.

I didnt use all the screwholes so I'll give that a shot and put all the screws in .
Another question;
Ive noticed some of yall have siliconed the edge of the plastic moulding . Im worried if this would keep water from draining out that gets under the plastic.

Com; I did anneal the trim . After turn 2.5 I was getting good at it.
