This is all new to me, I've fantasized about owning a travel trailer, but never dared take the plunge. Then my uncle basically gave me one, so here I am. It's a 1988 Prowler, nothing like most of what I see here. It needs some work, there have been some leaks, and the electrical system seems a little buggy, so I am so pleased and thankful to see so much info here!

First question: Is there a way to find out what it is worth? He signed it over to me already, and said " give me whatever you think is fair". I want to be reasonable, but I've been going through for sale listings and there seems to be no logic to the pricing. If anyone could point me in the right direction, I would be grateful.
*Edit* So, apparently, there is a "BlueBook" for recreational vehicles.

Ok, if this works, that is the trailer. It has a propane furnace, water heater & stove, & a propane/electric fridge. This is my attempt to keep it out of the weather.

You didn't give us much to go on but I bought a 16' Ritz for $150.00 and later sold it for $500.00 doing absolutely nothing but repairing the bed frame.

Thanks for the reply Bob, & I have updated my post. You would never find a deal like that around here, unfortunately, I live in a very recreation-centric area, and the prices of everything reflect that. That being said, the thing that has me scratching my head is, I'm seeing older, bare-bones units priced high, and newer "blinged out" trailers much lower. Obviously, I don't know enough about the whole thing to make sense of it, but I'm working on it!.

Here's another question: I see most people who have done what I want to do (renovate/remodel the interior) remove the exterior skin as well. Is that required, easier, or... ?

I'd tell Uncle....... "It's your trailer, tell me what you'd be happy with".... then you either pay him or tow it back to him. Just me maybe.

Hi GTG,

Welcome to the forum. As far as a value goes, it does depend
on location some - that is, if there is a "market" for such. But it also
is a 26 year old, average grade travel trailer. Unless it is in "timecapsule"
condition with no problems what-so-ever, which I doubt is the case,
I'd only value it at $300-500, which I'd consider a base price for any
travel trailer like this. I'd doubt if your uncle would expect much more
from it, but still, to keep family matters unruffled, I do think it a good
idea to have him throw out a starting price first. There are different
ways to look at it, but the most realistic would be to think of what it's
components are worth, as used items, and maybe base your value on that.
I'd say it'd still fall into my estimate range. Also, consider what you need to
make it towable/usable now, and subtract that from the price. New
tires and such may be needed for you to use it even as it is.

Yeah... I can't explain the situation, so I will just say... it's a family thing.

He is never going to give me a number, and if I offered him $5.00, I know he would accept it.

I know I will have some questions, but I will lurk around here and soak up as much info as I
can in the meantime, so I don't have to ask too many that have been answered already.
