I believe he was saying it use to be super expensive and how we should be happy they are now much cheaper.you on the other hand have complained about them the whole time you have been posting in this thread. So who exacty are you asking this? who cares if we pay for an rv dump we dont use.we CHOOSE to have an rv without a bathroom. They didnt tell us we couldnt have one yet still have to pay for it.

Good grief I bet you blow more on a dinner out than you do on all the fees your complaining about.get over it.

I bet I don't! Am single and do not go out for dinners and yes I am CHEAP! Why do I have to support some rich RV owner is the question?? If I wanted one and could have afforded one I would have purchased one!

I don't know how our RV licencing fees breakdown, here in B.C. or where they go....ferries, roads, parks, rest stops, roads signs, bridges???? or Whatever??? I am just Thankful they are there when I get to them.
And Washington & Oregon RVers! THANKS for supporting your State Parks thru your licencing fees!
They are "Beautiful" and those of us from out of State appreciate them when travelling thru.
And Steamboat? Pretty to look at as you drive by.......but too many bugs & snakes for us???? :R
Cost us $38.00 and we did not get, what looked to be a very nice shower, as the Mosquitoes blocked the route to the bathrooms.
Oregon, can't wait to stop at Cove Palisades near Madras, on our way to the Dam Gathering in the Spring.

PS
I am sure your States have a Liquor Tax that goes to something??......of which we have paid our fair share over the years! :wine: :FNP

Re: IT COST HOW MUCH??

Postby lrrowe » Thu Dec 11, 2014 12:04 pm

Back in November, for Virginia, I paid over $270 to register my CT. First of all is the typical titling fee. Then I paid something like $100 (going by memory as I do not have my itemized breakdown of charges with me) for a life time tags (a one time fee and then never have to worry about it again as long as you license this trailer) and the rest was mainly sales tax for the higher cost CT I have.

It is high, yes. But if the money goes to adding/improving/maintaining the roads in our state, then I am not so much against it. To me our state income taxes are not as high as others and the same for our real estate taxes (at least in the southwest part of the state). Also our tax on gasoline is not as high as other states. Today I can buy gas at $2.299 down at the corner station.

So I am not complaining on this topic.
Bob

I don't remember how much it was $ wise, but I got mine registered as a homebuilt trailer. I even had a county officer come by and sign off on it having the special sn tag installed. Officer never said anything about the camper sitting on the trailer. Got lifetime plates on it and never have to pay anymore. I live in Henrico county on the West end of Richmond Va. I don't think it was anywhere near $160.Larry

So, anybody who needs to dump the tank is now rich? I'll tell that to my friends. They'll get a good laugh. I have poured the contents of my little toilet in a sewer dumping spot. I guess I must be rich? That's news.

Seriously, like it or not, we pay for things we don't use with our taxes. I pay for things I'm against. That's life. Be glad you can travel with your trailer. Be glad the roads aren't too terrible to do so, or that we don't have toll roads. Buck up little camper!

we don't have toll roads? where do think we are heading here now with the toll bridges that have popped up the last few years along with the latest proposal in Olympia to charge for the miles you drive as an extra charge over and above the gas tax you already pay. No toll roads? - what does this sound like? Tolls on no matter what road you drive on to me! I have no problem paying gas tax on the gas I use and if they need more gas tax - charge us more gas tax, it's probably the fairest tax for roads there is being it's a user fee on what you use and depending on what "you choose" to drive, you pay accordingly in relation to the size and type of vehicle you choose to buy. The bigger - heavier - the worst you get in mileage, the more you pay! The bigger the trailer you tow - the bigger your RV - the worst your mileage, the more you pay! Sounds fair to me!! But now they feel we should pay even more!!! being they feel we are not paying enough if you have a small car. I drive my Colorado with it's 21 mpg, I pay more than driving my Swift with it's 42+mpg. Not that the Colorado causes road damage, but being it weights more than the Swift it causes more road wear than the Swift accordingly, but no they want us to pay more. Here's one for you, they charge us here in Washington a weight fee on each of our vehicle tap license's every year now - 0 to 4000 lbs.=$10.00 extra - 4000 to 6000 lbs.=$20.00 extra -over 8000 lbs.=$30.00 and so no. Did you notice on the first charge it's 0 to 4000 lbs.? Why is it not 0 to 2000 lbs.? Yes I have to pay a $10 fee each of my vehicles every year, even though the Swift weights 1895 lbs. per my title (Colorado is at 3657 lbs. per the title) But I know, per what has been said here "So it's only $5.00 extra $$, what the big deal? $3 than $5 than $10 than $20-where does it stop? I remember when Sales tax in this was 4 to 5 % and now it's almost %10 in a lot of places here in Washington!! And as if they wouldn't have gotten more tax money with just price inflation on all that we buy but NO, they need to raise the tax along with the inflation!!) The bottom line is, lets be far with the charges - if they need the extra $3.00 charge so bad for the trailers and RV's and I have to pay to support them and their choose in buying one - why shouldn't we ALL have to pay to support them being we ALL are using rest stops for the same reason, don't we? ( well, most of us do anyway) Take care, My rant is over for now.

Oops, I don't live or go near Seattle so forgot about those bridges. The only toll bridge I use sometimes is the Bridge of the Gods and I am not outraged by having to pay 75 cents to pull a trailer across. I have two pickups. I just pay the license fee and don't feel outrage about that either.

I guess electric cars cause no wear and tear on roads? Hybrids just a bit, because that's what the gubmint is trying to figure out--how to get them to pay taxes so the rest of us don't have to pay even more as more folks buy electrics and hybrids.

I guess we could do without snowplowing, or repairing pot holes, or replacing guard rails --quite a bit of damage was done Thursday night to the guard rails from trees topping onto them.

What can we do without? Maybe the tunnel under Seattle that is not being built because of that machine stuck underground? Fire the state workers? Do away with state parks? Sell off the ocean beaches? You figure. I'll just pay. For everybody's benefit who are reading this, we Warshington folks pay no income tax so we get hit with fees and sales tax fairly hard.

I hope to have an RV with a black tank some day. Yup, it'll make me rich. It'll be a Casita or Scamp. Those are what the ultra rich pull. :D

I guess we are getting "personal" here now being I am being told to move somewhere else. Native Washington, born here and have been here all of this life for what's it's worth - probably not much now being I have a opinion that differs with you that wants everyone else to pay for your "stuff" to be dumped. How about chipping in and helping me pay to empty my septic?
Rand_98201, noticed from the talk between you and Verdette that you haven't even gotten you teardrop tabs yet being it's not done, well make sure when you go for your tabs that you license it as a "travel" trailer and NOT a cargo trailer so you will have to pay the extra fee being you want to pay it so bad!! If some day I see your teardrop trailer in "our" area (and yes we are in the same area -98201=Everett) with a "small" motorcycle sized plate on it, I will know you licensed it as a cargo trailer (and are not paying the fee) - Travel trailers get the standard car sized plate only FYI.
And here's a quote from 2003 of Hillary Clinton's that I feel is a fitting sign-for from this subject and for what it's worth ...."I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration (this subject) somehow your not a patriot. We should standup and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration(this subject)" Take care and this has been fun! I'm SO STRESSED OUT I may have to move now - got to go check on the neighbors cat first! Goodbye

No kidding...

Anyone is welcome in my camp, as long as they leave their politics at home. Once that's done it never ceases to amaze me how much alike we all are. How many bags we've packed and the grief we can share.
