Exactly.................it's comfortable then to sit on the mattress with you feet on the ground.

I first bought memory foam but learned it can freeze hard in cold temps. So I took it back and got a 3" thick latex foam mattress. Since I've inadvertently hit below freezing temps a time or two I was glad I did. My trailer is insulated with 1.5" of rigid foam board beneath the floor so between the built in insulation and 3" of mattress I've been plenty comfortable and cozy on cold nights. I was also being mindful of interior cabin space. I figured if the 3" wasn't thick enough I could add another layer but it wasn't necessary.

5" firm foam from the foam factory, 4" would have been enough.

Howdy, Ours is a custom made mattress from a local company. It has 3.5" of firm cushion foam with 1.5" of memory foam on top all stitched together and looks like a regular mattress. Sleeps great! Here's a picture.

I was able to grab two 3" Queen size Memory Foam/Latex Foam mattress toppers at Wally World on Black Friday, so I now have a 6" mattress for a whopping $62

6" Walmart.com foam mattress, 3" jam. I should've done 2" jams because the 3" cut into our knees with our RV doors.

Hi Dale,
We went into Para and looked at all the foam options. We then went around to Bedz -R- Us and found we could buy a standard size innerspring mattress for less than foam. The size we got is a double long. Standard double width, but queen length. We could have squeezed in a queen but the double gives us a bit of space to tuck in the bedding down the sides. And besides it is not like you are going to fall out of bed. We find it to be extremely comfortable and after the one night that we were persuaded to sleep in some one's guest room we agreed that we would never do that again.
The only thing you need to allow for is that you can't fold it up to get it through the door. I have made the lower section of the galley easy to remove so that I can slide it in and out the back. We could have fitted our doors a bit lower as Dale finds that they catch her in the back of the legs. I have longer legs so it doesn't bother me as much, but we now have a couple of small plastic steps and problem solved. And you are going to need steps anyway.

Did you manage to get an innerspring mattress through your doors?
I went to Clark rubber here and was unpleasantly surprised at the cost of foam mattresses.

Try Walmart online. They have very good prices on mattresses and will ship to your door. We have an 8 in with memory foam from them at just over $200, and are now debating whether we should replace our $1200 home mattress with another like it.

Top photo shows the space to slide it in or out. The bottom photo will give you a bit of an idea on headroom.

How much do you need to remove from the galley to get it out

Pull the all drawers out and unscrew the two ply uprights that the drawer runners are mounted on. About a dozen screws holding it all together. Then there are 4 screws holding the ply panel across the bottom.

That's not to bad considering you'd hardly ever need to do it.
Due to my design I'd have to have an opening behind the splash back.not sure if it would be easier or harder
