Our Simple solution is going to be to put the galley /or rear “bakery” doors at the back of the camper, and then , let the roof and sides of the camper overhang the doors a foot or so . Which creates a little protected area , keeping the rain out of your camper... (still in design thus far ... see Zephyr) ... and also serves to give the rear of the trailer a tiny bit more streamlining ...

I understand the idea but if the roof of the trailer is at 5'5", allowing 4' sides and 18" of ground clearance, your banging your head on the roof overhang if you are 5'5"+. Just food for thought.

I thought of this design too, but my roof line was too low for head clearance. That is why when I made my hatch that it is hinged back some over the body. As the hatch rises it gains height for head room. Also being a squared back it allows the hatch to cover the rear well for protection from weather while working in the kitchen.

George, the Zep is 5’ tall + the 19" from trailer floor to ground... Tall enough to stand under the overhang , yet will just fit in the garage ...

I really like your model galley , but keeping water out will be a challenge without some type of drains/barriers installed ... ( like the trunk of a car ) Water will find a way in ...

Yes, I have built in a gutter in the sub roof. The sub roof extends underneath the hatch and has a large gutter installed to catch any water that may come in at the hatch hinge location. Water will then flow to the side and then out through the bottom. This will also keep water out of the galley when the hatch is open.
