Dickinson vented propane heater

You could, but the vent cap is an integral part of the air circulation safety system, and doesn't just slide on and off. It is affixed to the pipe with screws. No reason to remove it during periods of non use. That's what the weatherguard is for.

Here is another question for you.
If I wanted to run the vent out the side by the side door, similar to how Cindy has hers, that would prevent me from having an awning open, wouldn't it? If so, one needs to plan the location with this in mind.

I've never had an awning, but the one's I've seen attach to the top edge of the trailer just below, or at, the roof line, right? My vent is a couple feet below the roof line, so I don't see how it would interfere with a roof-mounted awning. But again, I don't have one, nor have I ever set one up. I would think the awning could interfere with where the exhaust goes though. You might want a little breeze so the fumes didn't collect under the awning. But then again, if its heater weather, it probably isn't awning/outside weather in most cases.

My suspicion is that if I want to go with a Dickerson unit and the awning, I ought mounting it on the opposite side.
One vision I have for could weather use of an awning would be during hunting season where there were sides are added so as to create an exterior room.

If you use an awning like that, then mount the heater on the other side. You would be trapping carbon monoxide in that area. Even without having the awning out, if it is rolled up above there I would worry about it getting too hot.

Gonefishin and Cindy or anyone else,

I am just thinking ahead for cabinet placement along with a Dickinson or Nuway type heater. And i am thinking about where will I place the heater.

If I do it on the door side, I run into issues with gases accumulating under an awning. And I do not want the vent going out the top.

My next consideration is up front. If I have a typical flue/vent cover on it and the cover is facing forward of the trailer, will I have an issue with excessive wind or water getting into the flue while driving? Of course, the heater will not be on during travel.

I wouldn't think it would be an issue Bob. With my side mount, I don't get any water in, or dirt, even at 70-80 mph on the interstates. I would think there would be a little less air flow on a nose mount, and the flow would be pressing the cap straight against the trailer skin. The Dickinson weather guard is pretty bomb-proof so far.

I remenber that one too. I Think that is where I got the idea for mounting the heater in the front. I will drop the poster a PM.
