Greetings from Tacoma, WA!

I've been lurking for a while, and have read Bob's entire story about his tiny home/caboose. I've felt compelled to no longer lurk here. You seem to have an amazing community, and one where I don't think I'll feel like such a freak!

I have a love of vintage 1950s canned ham trailers, and have dreamed of having one for the past 10 years or so. During the past 4 years, I've admired the Tiny Home dwellers and have wondered if I could become one of them. In the last 2 years, I'd say I've arrived at a point where I really desire to live simply, to remove myself from the energy and chaos that has invaded my life.

2 years. Our teenagers go off to college in 2 years, and I think the timing is perfect for a live change. Hey, that way they can't move back and live in our basement, right? Ok, maybe we build a 2nd guest tiny home for visits..

Anyway, hoping to learn much from this community, and contribute where I can!

Hi Karen, welcome to the forum. I admire your thoughts of scaling down your living style. All I know is, it worked for me, and I am a firm believer that a parent's primary job, is to teach their offspring to live and support themselves, without help from ol' Mom and Dad. The only flaw I can see, is providing a second tiny dwelling, which may evolve into having your kids living right next door, and leaning on you once again. In my case, we got rid of the big house, bought a motorhome and traveled around the US for about 8 years. No lawn to mow, no snow to shovel, no sweat, no bounce-back kids. Good luck.
