It's a 20 footer!

Postby Socal Tom » Mon Jan 19, 2015 7:44 pm

I envy those of you that have pretty trailers. Mine isn't. My TD is more like a 20 footer, ( don't tell my wife, but I adore my TD). I see so many threads with really beautiful work. I thought that we might have a thread for those of us with trailers that weren't built by skilled craftsman, but still provide a lot of joy for the owner.
For my part, here's the Tomabago. It's painted with rustoleum hammered paint, the galley leaks, but it's been cross country, and I'm hoping to set a new record for " nights in the box" this year.

I have a "classic" car AND a "vintage" teardrop...neither of which are "show" quality... That bein said, only begs the question, "Who cares" ? Longs as YOU don't care, it don't matter ! So goes the sayin, "Those who mind...don't matter. Those who matter, don't mind."

Both, my car AND my teardrop are WELL USED... and used WELL. They ain't real pretty, but guess what...They are BOTH in magazines AND newspaper articles.
Much to the chagrin of my "car" buddies with the $10 K paint jobs .

Bottom line is... If YOU love it.. that's ALL that matters ! :applause:

The camper look great to me. I know I added 7 states to my Map of places I have camped in the TD last summer.

As long as it is rolling and water tight you're good to go. :)

Chubby is on his 8th season...... There is a hole in the wood at the front ~ the outer layer of Luan is buckling ~ The door interior remain unfinished, but it is home away from home warm and dry and very comfortable. It was a very cheap ($900.00) build so there is not a lot of bells and whistles but it is still very much loved and appreciated.

Thanks for the support. We have so many posts of really really nice trailers, I thought we could let folks know that you don't have to be a master craftsman to get some love around here :applause:

I hope some others will add their 'good enough" rigs for some appreciation.

Mine is cheap and ugly, and not particularly well-finished, but it does everything that i need for it to do, and I am full-timing out of it now...I haven't yet taken the time to master putting reasonable sized pics up on the site, so here is my blog.

I am building my own little TD. I don't have a lot of money and it probably will not be the greatest or the most beautiful or the most perfect but it will be mine and I will enjoy all the camping and traveling I will do in it. I am 65 years old, to have a TD will give me the freedom to travel on a limited income. I have no reason to dislike my little TD. I am looking forward to doing a lot of camping and traveling. Oh did I mention It is a foamie? A new and interesting concept in building and not trying to even have to compare my building abilities to anyone. It is a style that is truly the builders own. The people I will meet in my travels are the most important and my Td will allow for me to be able to meet these wonderful people.

Good luck in your travels

I admire each and every home built as a piece of art and am impresssed by each one. I bought mine and while I do love it I wish I had the patience to build one.
