Hi from Northern Arizona

Postby minstrel » Tue Jan 20, 2015 5:40 pm

I am the proud new owner of a "gently used!" teardrop. I really wanted a way to travel with my dog that would be an easy set-up for a single gal. I am ready to take my first trial run in February!!
HOWEVER, I do already have a question......Has anyone ever put up an EZup canopy shelter solo? I've looked online and all I see are videos and directions for a two-man job. I got one with the camper when I purchased it and would like to use it if possible. I saw another company (Undercover) that makes a pop-up shelter that one person can assemble, but would rather save the bucks and use what I have if I can......
I look forward to attending some gatherings and meeting some of you lovely people...
Liz

Hi Liz, welcome aboard. Good for you, ready to travel with the teardrop and the dog. Now if you are going to attend some of the TD gatherings, you don't have to worry about putting that easy up all by yourself. Teardroppers are the friendliest campers you'll ever meet. There will probably be a guy at each corner of the thing. Get in contact with the AZ Tearjerkers and you'll see what I mean. There is a trailer gathering at Why, AZ on Feb 15 to 18. Check it out. Also, Spring Clean is March 5th to 8th.

Hi Roly,
Yeah, I've heard they are a friendly bunch.....I just want to be prepared for the times I'm more on my own. Also, stupid tech question..... how do you get your picture so that it appears to the left of your post? I ended up just attaching mine because I'm technology-challenged. Really, first time I've ever joined any kind of social networking forum...!!
Thanks,
Liz

Beats me, Liz, you have to ask one of the admins. When they read this, they will probably help you, or someone else may. The only reason I can type this stuff on my PC, is because the Freshman typing class I took about 65 years ago, was the class with all of the cute gals in it.

Hi Liz,
Welcome from Sandi and Brian.
I have put our Easy-up up, on my own, several times. Of course all of those times were at home, in our yard, 'cause Roly is right. You will probably never have to put it up by yourself if there is another teardropper around.
When you are on your own, the most important thing is patience. Don't try to do it too fast. If you want you can stake one leg down and then you gradually move the other legs out bit by bit, one at a time. When it is almost fully extended, you can then push up the top braces and lock it in place. Before you extend the legs to full height, put your cover on. Putting the top on is pretty easy too....as long as there is no wind. You can just anchor the Velcro on one corner of your cover and then pull the next corner over and anchor. Again ....PATIENCE is key. Once the cover is on and all Velcro is secured, then you extend the legs to the height you want.
Hope to meet you this summer Liz. Have a great time enjoying your teardrop, Sandi and Brian

Thanks for all the encouragement. Think I will try a practice run in my yard with my son in attendance for help!

Hi Liz,

Brian's method of staking out one leg is a proven winner when there's only one person to set-up the canopy...

welcome to the site!!

yes Liz staking one leg and pulling from opposite corner and when you get it started I found if you go under and get in the middle and push up and shake it will go right on up so you can fasten the corners and then raise the legs one at a time but as many have said if you are at gatherings or any camp ground just asked if someone would help up with your EZ up bet you will find someone top help you.
