Temporary backup lights

I ran into a problem of having no backup lights on my trailer this summer. I know that I can get the aftermarket ones and mount them, but it just hasn't been a priority since I seldom really need them. Well this time I did. I needed to back in a small camp road that twisted and was very tight with trees on both sides.

After thinking about it, and I almost taped my flashlight on just one side, when I remembered the harbor freight magnetic led "worklights" that I have floating around my camper. http://www.harborfreight.com/27-led-por ... 60566.html

These little lights are very handy for lots of applications so I have a habit of picking up a couple when they are on sale, which is pretty frequent. They were certainly golden for this application. They have strong magnets on the back that attached the lights to my rear door hinges, and they stayed attached through several potholes and brushes with bushes.... I am not great at backing up! Anyway with the little led lights attached to the back I finally got the cargo trailer where it needed to be.

Great idea Cindy. I have some of these lamps and now I will make sure they are in the TV/Trailer combo.
And watch the HF ads closely as I think they may sometimes be free (but I could be mistaken).

And now you make me wonder if I have backup lamps on my CT. Guess I need to check it tomorrow.

They are having a sale soon with coupon for those free, got one today at store, coupon that is. They are great lights and free is good

I get the free items every week, got 3 or 4 of these and a coupon for another free. Now I have a real use for them!!!!

Great idea! I've been procrastinating on installing backup lights on my teardrop. It's rare that we arrive to a campsite in daylight, so I'm generally backing blind. I'll borrow your idea if you don't mind.

Heavens, no, I don't mind! Please use the idea if it helps out. That is why I posted it.

The lights aren't as good or as strong as regular backup lights, but they do show better than not having anything. They are also brighter on new batteries.

I do still plan on adding regular backup lights or some at least some sealed led floods on a switch. ....when I get to it that is....

Oh, BTW, I do not have to check my trailer to see if have them. No I do not. I remember the factory telling me I have an extra wire in the back for back up lights. I guess that means I will looking for some also.

This is why I hard wired a bypass into my rear spot lights to my reverse light and I'm wiring in a backup camera soon. This way when I throw my truck into reverse the light comes on and the camera will automatically switch. Lots of wiring and a some of knowledge about relays and diodes involved in this though.

Oh I realize many mistakes or oversights I made with my first ever order for a CT. Hopefully there will never be another, but you never know.
