now THAT is funny! :applause: What kind of glue do you recommend to keep a wife's skirt from creeping up while spinning on the wheel?

Tony, you are truly a droll fellow. If you look closely at the banner behind the unfortunately named "Wheel of Death," you'll note that the woman, er, your wife spinning on the target is the "Award Winning Target Girl." Not sure what award she gets or who gives it out....could you enlighten us?

I'm sure you ratchet up to hatchet throwing after breakfast.

I asked my wife what droll meant and she flinched. I had to look it up. She says she doesn't find me amusing. I might have to speed the wheel up and see if she changes her mind.

If you watch my wife's hair in the video, you'll understand the award. Not everyone can do that. My first wife couldn't. The video itself is actually a trick. The camera is inverted. I'm standing on the ground.

Now, let's get this thread back on track. I'm curious to find out how I can store my knives and maintain their keen edge.

T :?

p.s. Does anyone doubt that I've got cabin fever and need to camp where it's warm and green? Anybody?

Have 3 or 4 knifes I carry in the trailer that came with plastic sleeves which I make sure they are in when they are in the storage tub when traveling (not very safe digging for something in the tub only to find a sharp knife edge) but when set up and camping, I have a mounted knife "magnet" bar below the cabinet edge that they adhere to being they are made of cheap/low cost stainless - "GOOD" stainless is not very magnetic. Had two bars mounted to balance out the look, but only ever use one so one was removed this year for the mounting of a small spice rake.

Build a nice knife block for them. The stove/bbq lighter and sharpening steel are in there too.

Awesome. I have a couple of paring knives with plastic sheathes but didn't know I could buy the covers alone.

For years we've made homemade cardboard covers for all of our butchering knives. Keeps em sharp and keeps little hands out of trouble if they reach into the knife drawer when they shouldn't.

Another tip on knives, especially those being carried in a wall hanger. After they are clean and sharpened, wipe each edge with ChapStick. Knives lose their edge over time due to oxidation. The ChapStik seals the edge away from oxygen and prevents this. It's also 100% food grade, so no worries about getting it in your next meal. I can't recommend the eucalyptus one, though...

OOOOH! I like drhill's solution. That's really nice.

The plastic rack mentioned many times above, could be mounted at an angle if necessary.

We carry a couple steak knives we put in with the utensils, and one very sharp knife that has a plastic sleeve.

We use a set of ceramic knives, each one came with a plastic protective sheath for the blade.

YES! A spinning wheel. I don't spin, but am trying to find the best way to store yarn for my (countless) knitting projects when I camp.

Try the Container Store. They have a lot of options. I use the "Wave" :surrender: for my kitchen.
I'll burn that bridge when I come to it.
