Nuts....another thing I did not think about when I ordered my CT.
The F150 tailgate lays down to hit the top of the trailer jack. Now I have to weld a new plate further back to create the necessary clearance. Or I may just get a new one that bolts to the side.

I've got the same problem.......luckily I was holding the tailgate and didn't drop it

I've thought of side-mounting the jack but not sure if it would torque the frame.......

That is a good argument for not side mounting it. I wish I had known of the issue when I ordered it. It should have been a non-issue to mount it further back. I need to send the manufacturer a note making them aware of the problem. But I find it hard to believe no one else has not notified them.

It also probably means that I should reposition it the minimum distance from where it is and still allow the tailgate to clear it. I was going to remove the battery anyway, so I have the room. Just need to get some heavy duty brackets made.

Mine would have had the same issue but the factory used a folding jack on the left side of the "A". Torque reaction should be a non issue as the trailer is just going to sit there at rest and the jack is still near the front.

My teardrop has the same issue. My F150 tailgate hits the jack. It's a real PITA! Those bolt on side mount jacks don't do to well with heavy trailers. I'd be inclined to spend the $ and get yours relocated. (I don't have the room on my teardrop tongue). I can't remember where I saw them but you can get plates pre-cut for a jack pretty reasonable. That you could just have a welder weld the plate and not have to pay for fabrication (other than maybe a couple of support angle irons).

The jack used on our CT was not a typical bolt on folding jack. It is a HD weld on type with a lift rating of 2000 lbs and a static rating of 3000 lbs. Seems enough for a trailer with a gross weight rating of 3500 lbs. Made by BullDog. They have many models with different ratings and inches of lift and top crank or side crank.

I have to check mine next time I hook up. Didn't even think of that, BUT, I also have one of those extension hitches used for my teardrop when towing it and could also use the bike carrier. Think about going that route, plus it gives it a better turning radius.

Another thing to think about. If you might be using stabilizer and/or sway control that possibly could interfere with a side mount jack.
