Enough Lumens for CT

I found these tubes on our side and may try them given only priced at $16.
They are rated at 3 times what yours rate. But I will believe that when I see it. The hardware is not as nice as yours either. If by chance they are too bright, I can always hook up a dimmer to them.

And for you and Jerry, if again they are too bright, I will go outside at night to sleep.

Lowes and HD both have the LED shop lights for about the same price. They are ridiculously bright and energy efficient.

Just make sure to look at specs...I've been looking all over and havent seen anything close on price to specs. For instance, the ones I saw at Lowes were 1800 Lumens for $40.

I saw the lumens with Lowes. They are AC and shop lights. The AC is ok maybe, but I am looking for ceiling lights.

Try this site: http://www.thelightbulb.co.uk/resources/lumens_watts It will tell you all you need to know. In case for some reason you can't get through, 100 watts/110 volts = 1300 lumens which is roughly the same as what led will give you at 12 volt/13 watt.

But that chart was for 240V.
I found another one like it for 120V

and that has the lumens I was using. It is a good chart to keep for many reasons. I will bet you hit the wrong section as it looks like the same site.

i have a 7x12 with carpet walls (similar to Poppy's toybox) and i'm looking at the same question. If i get what seems adequate to me, i'll send you the info. Thanks for starting this thread, surely someone has done this and we can use experience over guesses.

Thanks lrrowe, for correcting my error. To help make up for it, here is some information on what I installing, and that I am happy with.

If you go to Frank Bear at teardroptrailerparts.com and check out his #LT25 lights you will find out that they are incandescents @ $7.95 for 6 of them, or $4.95 for 3.

Then go to EBAY and search yitamotor 10 48smd this will take you to a site where you can buy 10 led conversions for these for about $16.00

Put them together and you end up with 9 lights and a spare led for about $33.00 or about $3.33 each. They are quite bright and look very good.

I did the lookup and I think this will work for me. Each lamp will only be 192 lumens, but if I order the 6 lamps from Frank Bear, that combo would produce almost 1200 lumens which might work for me to start with. Cost will be about $3.00 each (sub of two parts) or $18 for 6. I like the dual switch capability with one switch on the lamp and the use of an inline switch to all at once.

But first, since it sounds like what you have used them. If so, what color level did you pick? I like the warmer 4000k over all but I feel the cool white (6000k) looks like it may give a little more light (can find a lumen spec to compare both of them).

Noon sunlight is 5600 K. I guess that is why I prefer the 6000 K over any of the other lower color temperatures. But to each their own.

As Mtdon pointed out, the choice is so individual that my preference could be opposite of yours. Mtdon also gives the best true measure of what you might like when he gave the value numbers on true sunlight to compare to. You would be best served to guess your own preference based on this.
As to the lights, the are about the same as the ones you find on Ebay for $9.95 each. I think you will find that dealing with Frank Bear to be a pleasant experience. I know that he helped me a lot on the teardrop I built last year. That saved me quite a bit of money as well as just plain making the whole project easier.
