Hello from way down under..

Well, I have been trolling this site for quite awhile now and everybody here is very inspiring and passionate in their builds. I only hope I don't upset anybody on the forum, for my mini camper will be clad in wood but has a steel frame.

My inspiration came from a truely magic design by a person that posted on you tube

I love camping and my two girls are getting to the age where they are asking to come with me, my tent that I have just isn't big enough for us. I have tried and end up getting no sleep whatsoever. Great fun but a couple of days and I'm pooped! A bigger tent that is of reasonable quality is over a grand, and to be honest I hate drying tents. Murphy loves me, guaranteed it rains for a week when I do try drying my little one lol... So, my plan is to build a mini camper that I can use very comfortably by myself and still enable me to take the girls out with me, they can sleep in the camper and I will use either my hammock or when I buy it, the hub for my gazebo that I have just bought for the camper. Sorry but I call it a mini camper because I'm not sure what style it is, possibly a weekended or grasshopper?
Anyway, it will give me the freedom to bugger off when I want too without having to spend a day packing all the items for a few days hunting or fishing, also my wife and I can have a night away at the beach or bush with everything we would need bar the food, a quick stop at the store and that's fixed!
So, everything and anything anyone has to add to my build would be greatly appreciated as my skills are very limited compared to the build I have seen here..
I will start a build thread including the photos that I have taken so far.
Awesome site, keep up the great advice and ideas.

Hi Atoddy, good to here you are getting started. Keep us posted on progress :pictures:
Did you see the article in Shed magazine a while ago on a camper similar to what you are doing?
What part of NZ are you in?

Welcome to the forum! I paused on that exact same trailer in the video the first time I saw it! I really liked it too. Your build looks great. Hope to see your build pics SOON!
