Roosevelt 6x12 multi-use

I first have to thank everyone for this great forum. I needed a trailer to haul gear for my work as a Theodore Roosevelt living history performer and wondered if it was possible to convert one into a camper/dressing room/walk-through museum. You have convinced me that all is possible and I have already borrowed many of your ideas for my future build. (My wife keeps asking about all the large boxes arriving from Ebay.) So a Bully! thank you to you all.

The base is a used 2015 H&H I found on Craigslist from a little old lady who only hauled church music on Sunday. (ok, it was bed linens to the cabin, but the same amount of wear)

On the inside I have a plan to add a fold down bed system, counter tops, led lighting, power, portable toilet, etc.

I have some unique problems I am trying to solve and would appreciate some ideas. Inside the left side along the back wall will need to be a stable and secure place for the backwall for my set for a stage play I do. It is important that it lay tight against the wall and not jostle around. The gentleman who designed it suggested a few small holes in the side wall and then put "s" hooks into the holes and strap tight. I thought about a hinge system using hinge pins that release when the set is not in the trailer. I looked at E-channel but don't like the way it sticks out from the trailer side wall and could potentially mar the set wall. I would enjoy any suggestions. The current system will work until I start the build-out this spring

Get some recessed floor hooks for trucks, mortise into the wall, and then strap it down.

Here's one style. You might be able to anchor to the frame and still have flush with plywood wall depending on trim.

You could use E-track singles to either side. That way could still be strapped flat against wall.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone on securing the load.

I have been lurking here most of the winter and have been filling the garage with my build materials. Now that the weather has gone above freezing I have spent the weekend on the project that I have been imagining in my head and copying from a lot of you. I do not have the cad expertise I have seen from so many, so I just built a mock-up and started playing around with basic ideas.

I had been reading about all the struggles to remove wall panels. Fortunately, mine just used self tapping #2 square head screws! I had to cut the caulk to get the panels out, but other than that, not an issue.

Insulated with R6 ridgid panels. This was perhaps the toughest decision as the spray foam solution that many had recommended was just out of my budget.

Had the neighbor weld up the frame for my ceiling vent. Since it has the "ceiling fan" function decided to put it smack dab in the middle of the trailer. Not sure if that is good or not. Any suggestions before I cut the hole would be appreciated. Easy enough to move the bracket now before the cut!

Wiring is started. Going to feed to a Power Dynamics power center at the front of the cabinetry. Four switches at the door will control a porch light, and ceiling lights. I will also use small self contained battery puck lights that I was using this winter when I would load at night. I probably went overboard on the number of lights I bought, but I do a lot of loading later in the evening getting ready for a show or after one. Still wondering if I need a flood light on the outside too. Anyone have experience with those? Is there a lot of glare that gets into you eyes trying to load?

I placed mine about where the side door is lengthwise. I left room in the remaining space for a second one to be half way down the remaining roof should I ever want to add one. I really do not think I will add it though as cracking opening a window should give me a cross breeze (up breeze).

I wanted to test the idea of a shower pan. I am not sure If I want to do it or not. I get into a lot of places where the ability to do a quick shower would be nice. I have a battery operated shower that pumps hot water in a bucket that works pretty good. We always used a sun shower we hung up in our motor home when we had one, so I know the concept well. As I write this, I am leaning on just ordering the darn thing so that it's there!

It goes without saying that any shower in a camper will be a quick one.

Unless you are on shore water and can run a drain line to CG drain system.
