Converting Cargo Trailers into TTTs

Canadian Window Sources?

Postby wedhatted » Wed Mar 11, 2015 12:45 pm

I started converting a cargo trailer to a toy hauler last year.
It is pretty rustic compared to most of the builds I have seen on this forum, but it is home.
Although I plan to incorporate some of the features I have seen here this year.

The most important upgrade for me right now is a side window. I am having a hard time finding any Canadian source for windows though. Can anyone help me out?

Any RV repair places or RV salvage yards?

Depending on where you are just about any decent rv place will carry windows. As previous person said check out salvage yards but also look for boats as they have great windows. Kijiji is also a great source and so is ebay.

Are shipping rates from eBay sellers high? Or can you not get them shipped across the border? That is where I got mine.

Cross border shipping can be atrocious for us up here. That said, searching around on eBay usually finds what I'm after without too much in shipping, particularly when compared to the retail RV places.
Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach a person to use the Internet and they won't bother you for weeks.

I ordered my windows from Sunview in Summerland (Okanagan Valley) BC. VERY impressed with their product AND service! Shipping was reasonable too considering the weight and size of three windows. Took about 6 weeks but that included Christmas break! My contact was Mr. Kent Miller.

Picture shows 2 windows - one slider and one "T" window, similar to the ones on our hightop conversion van. There's a similar T window on the other side of the trailer.

Hope this helps - let me know if you want any more information.

PS: I checked some of the local RV dealers, etc. for used windows, but decided to spend the $$$ for new and I am happy I did.

Just received my order from them. I got a double pane 14"X30" vertical slider and a 30"X30" egress horizontal slider in double pane as well. I should be installing them next weekend, so I'll give a review once I have a better look.
